Very hard this morning so couldnโt quite make the 5k mark unfortunately so I think I need to go back into consolidation runs once again to get myself used to this.
I had aimed for 10k on Sat but I donโt think my body is ready yet for that. Hopefully in the next few weeks though ๐๐

Hey KB, take it easy. You haven't been well so I'd just do some slow 30 min runs to build up to 5k, then start on the road to 10k. I've been 'starting' the distance plan since January but can't get into the swing of it, but still going out and plodding along ๐
Thank you Blossom ๐ I think you are right and I havenโt recovered fully yet so I think I am trying to do to much to soon. I will change tactics now and aim to just get out three times a week and build up that way ๐โโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Take it easy KB. Any time I've pushed myself too hard, I've ended up on the IC - and you don't want that! So slowly does it - there's no rush. Just enjoy what you feel you can do!
You are absolutely right 58soon there is no rush for anything ๐ค I just feel I can do more then find I canโt at the moment so now easing back a bit
Definitely tame that competitive edge. As you already know, the way to reach distances is gradual increments.
The two times I've tried to do a sub 30 min 5km, I spent time on the injury couch a few days later (the first time for a month, the second time for a fortnight).
lol Iโm not sure I have a competitive edge ๐ค maybe I do a little bit ๐ค I think I believed I was recovered more than I actually am as in my mind I am raring to go ๐๐ good advice though
I agree with Blossom! A few gentle 30 minute runs and just enjoy them. Sometimes after not being well, we expect to get back to normal quite quickly and are impatient when it doesnโt happen. Take it easy - youโll get there again. ๐๐๐โโ๏ธ
Coming back after injury is such a balancing act! Wise decision to pull back a bit, slowly building up is the way to go. I've been adding one kilometre to my long run every week so it's going to take me a few weeks yet to get to 10k. Frustrating but better than ending up on the IC again because of my foot ๐ฆถ good luck ๐ค
Don't be too hard on yourself, I have just read you earlier post and if you are recovering from shingles then just take your time !I had a spell of infrequent running and im taking my time to get back to 10 and 12k
I have built the frequency up again first before increasing my distance !
Just take your time , you will be back there when you are ready ๐๐
