I've been run/walking LEJOG 8 since 22 November. Today I passed 800 miles. The postcard was of Dunrobin Castle which, if anyone is interested, was about a mile up the road from Golspie, where I went to secondary school from 1986-88.

Can I ask a possibly stupid question? But I guess this is a virtual race, like I am doing the Conqueror Mount Kilimanjaro now? Does LEJOG 8 mean this is the 8th time you are doing it? Does that mean you paid for the 8th time for the same race and will receive an 8th same medal? This is not a criticism at all, I am just curious as I have only just entered the wonderful world of virtual races and there are many to choose from, but I was wondering what to do if you have done them all.

Hi. I'm doing the End to End LEJOG (it's broadly similar to the Conqueror one). All that the "8" refers to is the fact that this is the eighth iteration that they have set up. I think they open up a new one every couple of months and you have a year to complete the one you are doing. The number is simply the way of identifying which race/cohort you are a part of for the purposes of logging you progress. This is actually my second one although it's the only one I've paid for. Last year's one I did off my own back, plotting my progress on an excel spreadsheet. It just so happened that End-to-End's #8 started the day after I "arrived" at Land's End (I'm Scottish, so I treated John o' Groats as my starting point), so I registered and started the return journey.

Generally, I don't actually bother, but I like to set myself little challenges along the way so I've already done my own virtual West Highland Way, John Muir Way, Forth/Clyde Valley etc. All you need is Google to look up the distance, then your running app of choice and a spreadsheet to record your progress.
