About 5 months ago I set myself a target of running a minimum of 20k a week, its gone quite well and while I don't always manage to exceed 20k I have got the 20k done every week. I do think this week though I'm going to struggle to make it. I had my first Covid jab on Tuesday, I can't say I've had any terrible side effects but for the last few days I have noticed a definite lack of energy for running. I have about 9k to do and with only Saturday left I think I'm going to have to admit defeat this week unless I wake up in the morning very energised, unlikely. π Ahhh well better to be jabbed and miss a run I guess π . . . Have a good running weekend everybody πββοΈπββοΈπ

Covid jabbed and struggling this week π . . .
Hi, I was just about to post on this subject when I saw your post. I had my jab on Wednesday, felt odd yesterday, tried a short run this morning and ended up walking! I havenβt walked since C25k 4 years ago. Obviously this vaccine is affecting some and not others, my husband had no problems.
Hope youβre soon back to normal ... as you say βbetter to be jabbedβ.
Just see how you feel o.g. I felt washed out for a couple of days after the jab but soon got back into things, but Iβve heard of so many differing reactions.
Let us know how you get along.
20km a week is good going.
I had my first jab on Tuesday I decided to run in the afternoon thinking any side effects wouldn't kick in straight away. Wednesday I was shattered all day, had breakfast then snoozed the rest of the morning π΄. Felt almost back to normal yesterday, but still quite tired in the afternoon. Interestingly I noticed that my resting heart rate was much higher on Wednesday but back to normal by Thursday.
I'm sure you'll get back to your 20k weeks soon.
I had my first jab before Christmas (frontline nhs worker) and the only side affect was a dead arm.
Well I had my second jab 2 days ago, they say if you going to get side effects itβs normally after the 2nd jab. I felt fine, yesterday I set out to run a 10K but after the first km I had a bounding headache like a tight band around my head, Iβd been fine when I set off and was well hydrated. I decided to carry on but diverted home on a 5K route. When I mentioned to my other half he reminded me about the vaccine π. I felt achey and the headache persisted. Easing today. Will try for 10K again tomorrow all being well
Yes it certainly has an effect particularly doing physical activity like running, fingers crossed for tomorrow, maybe I can squeeze a few extra k in then π . . . hope you 10k goes ok also π€π
I had my vaccination last Thursday and the nurse said to me take it easy over the next 24hours which I did and decided not to run on the Friday which is normally my long run. Glad I did as my arm was quite heavy thatβs all, after 24 hours no problem and Iβm back to my normal running this week - hope this helps anyone else in their decision making.
Happy running ππ»ββοΈ
Yes, maybe I should have rested, my partner did give me a bit of a hard time about going out for a run so soon π¬
Thanks, yes I will . . .
