I was pleased to see the snow and ice that had made the paths so treacherous had finally almost gone ๐
So two layers of kit, hat and gloves on and out I went, I chose the NRC 60 minute run and it felt great to be out there in the cold crisp fresh air. Iโd only run a short distance when I saw a hearse and funeral car pull up outside a nearby house, which reminded me of mums funeral, I removed my running hat as I went by, and felt a sadness come over me, but I shook it off as best I could and continued on.
My energy levels felt distinctly average after 6 days without a run so I didnโt push it, I just maintained a slow steady pace. I reached the park which had stretches of icy pavement here and there so I opted to run on the grass. Coach Bennett asked the question โHow are you?โ Then he said โNo really....How are You honestly?.....and I thought....Iโm ok, Iโm getting there and this run is certainly helping.
I headed home and having reached it I found Iโd completed 10k. As I got in and was catching my breath the small furry face you can see in the photo was looking at me longingly. So back out I went and did a further 2k, he ran with me for a while but wanted to stop and sniff everything in sight, so it was a very stop start affair, but he seemed to enjoy it.
Itโs great to be out there again and Iโm planning to go out again in a day or two.
Sounds like a great run Couchphoenix and lovely photo of your dog! ๐ถ I haven't run for a few days myself but hope to go after work tomorrow (early school finish then half term). I'm really looking forward to having a little more time to fit my runs in, if only for a few days!๐
Thanks Sandraj39, you definitely feel it if you havenโt been out for a while, it was nice out there today though and I did enjoy it. I miss it if I donโt go out. Itโll be nice for you to get back out there again soon ๐๐โโ๏ธ
Well done CP! Especially doing another 2K on top of your 10K run ๐๐ป.I know what you mean about lower energy after a break. 20 mins was enough for me yesterday.
Such a cute doggy!
Really donโt know when I will be running again. ๐
Keep positive thoughts for me that I get back to normal soon ! ๐ค๐ป
Glad you were able to get out for a run, not surprised you had a moment, seeing a funeral car ๐ฅ very slowly, time will help, and i'm sure continued running will be a massive help. Your four legged friend was very happy to be taken out too.I did a 7k yesterday, but think i need to rest this groin pain, a bit longer, will see how it goes, still waiting for the dreaded phone call, from care home. ๐ฅ
Thanks, trying to think possitive, and how she'll be at peace at last, she's said to me many times, how she'd had enough, still so sad, but life goes on. ๐ฅ

Five Harveyโs ๐ค naaahh ones enough, lovely though he is , I couldnโt cope with 5 of them. Weโve got him and 2 cats, which is more than enough ๐
Youโre right, who could resist that little face, heโs full of mischief, good fun though !
The running has helped me a lot, I enjoyed being out there today, but you do find a difference if you havenโt run for a few days. Looking forward to the next one now.
I know! Not sure whatโs wrong, pain all around my thigh. Suspect itโs a lower back problem, Iโve had it before. It was a walk yesterday that made it worse. So, rest and gentle stretches for me! Such a nuisance, because running keeps my mind off everything else thatโs going on. Sounds like you need to rest, too - just at a time when you need to be out running as well.
Yes, not great timing, let's hope not too long for both of us ๐ค do you normaly work, would help distract from things, schools will be open again soon, so i should be back working.
We'll be moving later this year too, this is my mum's house, i'll probably have one daughter still with me, so will be all change. This last year feels a bit like retirement, all this time at home.
I took him out for a walk at 7am and there was a fresh covering of snow, but by the afternoon it had melted off the pavements, so I thought letโs get out there. Glad to hear youโve missed it ๐
Thanks Sola, it certainly does help. It was nice out there today, ideal weather for a run. I managed to tick off a few miles towards my Feb Race at Your Pace Challenge too, which was good ๐๐โโ๏ธ
Super cute pooch. Super cute name too...Harvey...I love it CP. But to you...Iโm afraid the sadness never leaves you CP but does get less hard to bear over time. My Dad died over twenty years ago and it still makes me sad. But I know, as a parent, all you hope for is to make a positive and lasting impact on your children. Your Mum will have been so proud of you. Take comfort, over time, from that CP and know that weโve all got your back and are rooting for you on this forum. Take care of you.
Thank you Banana12, youโre right itโll always be there, but time does heal as they say and the running and support of the lovely people on this forum does help.
Re the super cute pooch, our surname is Moon.....so of course it just had to be Harvey ๐
Pleased to hear you got out for a really good run and running started to work its magic What the running doesn't do to help you those eyes and curly ears will_what a cutie.
I am trying to get out every day this month even if only for a couple of . Have to admit it helps the mood, but as to whether the body will take it _watch this space_!
Keep running_when it's safe_and tickle those ears when it isn't?
Aaahhh that made me laugh, he is all eyes and curly ears ๐ that pretty much describes him.
Every day for a month is going some, donโt overdo it ok, you do need to rest those legs from time to time.....Iโll be watching that space.....while I rest my legs and tickle his curly ears ๐ค
Thanks for the advice, I read the posts from some of those who did RED January and thought, if I'm going to do it February is the best ( shortest) month. Have to admit I am enjoying the daily plod. 4 days a week I only run around 2K and the others are my regular runs. So far so good...
I am not surprised that made you feel sad. That is so lovely that you removed your running hat, you are such a gentleman. Well done for being able to carry on with your run, so glad running is helping you during this difficult time.
What a cutie Harvey is ๐ถ ๐ถ๐ถabsolutely gorgeous great he is doing his bit in helping you clock up the kms!!
Nice one ๐ try that Nike Run Club app, itโs easy to use. Works like C25k but you can pick whatever you fancy doing. Itโll keep a record of your run and distance/ time etc for you too, which is good.
Harvey Moon ๐๐ I LOVE it! You've made me smile CP ๐ that's a great 10k you got in there, I'm not sure I could get going again to do another 2k after stopping, even with HM's beseeching eyes looking at me ๐ฌ, well I can see how he got round you. I'm afraid seeing a funeral car always causes me a sharp intake of breath ๐ฅ I sometimes have a little tear appear even while running, but the joy of the run seeps back through with a bit of determination. Running is sometimes a distraction and sometimes an opportunity to process. Your mum would be really proud of you.
Thanks Littleoyellow, glad the name gave you a smile ๐ the extra 2k with Harves gave me a chance to cool down and also gain a bit more distance towards my Feb Race at Your Pace Challenge (an over ambitious 50 miles, which may need tweaking ๐ณ) plus it kept him happy too, so win win.
The funeral car did make me stop in my tracks, which youโve experienced too so you know how that feels. Running has helped a lot during whatโs been a difficult time, Iโm so glad I discovered it.
Who knew that running would be the best thing to come out of 2020 when it started! I never imagined I'd one day be telling everyone how much I ENJOY running ๐๐ฌ
Iโm the same, my enthusiasm must have rubbed off, as 4 of the ladies I work with have now graduated C25k and have told me I inspired them, which is something Iโd never imagined happening in a million years.
oh well done you. I went out for a 7km, haven't been out for a week because of the snow. What an awful run, no energy, legs like lead. Felt quite frustrated, then I remembered Coach Bennett who said that were is no such thing as a bad run, just a different run. Nevertheless, it ended up run, walk, trot, run , walk, trot, so I just kept going in a kind of very quick walk and sang out loud to my playlist!!๐๐โโ๏ธ
It does make a difference if you havenโt been out for a while, first one feels tough, but the following one after that normally feels like your old self Iโve found. At least you got out there, so well done. Coach Bennett does come up with some good advice from time to time ๐
