Hi guys. I hope everyone's ok, or ok as possible with what's going on, and that this message reaches you guys ok too.
I was just posting to ask whether there's anyone brave enough to go out running in the wintry weather, as I wasn't sure whether anyone's brave enough to go out running when it's snowing and stuff.
I've just started training for the 10K race that I've signed up for at the end of next month, it's just that I don't want to miss out on training if possible, but at the same time I don't want to run the risk of injuring myself too.
If anyone's got any tips for running in the snow I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.
With lots of best wishes from Jonathan.

Me, I did a 14km run in 3" of snow this morning wearing shorts 🤣 read about the yaktrax I attached to my normal Brooks ghosts on this forum, and the run itself on the marathon forum. I really believe everyone has to try running in all conditions otherwise you dont know what you are capable of, it doesnt have to be a long run. Good luck on your journey to 10k. Happy running 🤗
Good luck with your training whovian1991 - I love a 10k! 🙂Which one are you hoping to do?Winter running does mean being a bit careful, especially if its icy out. 🥶❄️I ran in new-fallen snow a few weeks ago and it was fine, especially as a lot of my route was on an old railway line. I am used to running on muddy trails though which I think helps. The pavements were snowy but not icy and I also have trail shoes.
Two days later however, it was too icy to run.
The other thing to consider of course, is making sure you are dressed for the weather - extra layers, gloves, a buff or even a woolly hat!
It is ok to take a break if you’re unsure of course - better to have a few days off and stay safe sometimes. The runs will still be there and you have lots of time.🙂
I went outside yesterday and going out again tomorrow. Sunday it snowed quite a bit here in Belgium and it froze hard. Giving a nice slippery and rocky (ice) surface at some spots. But I wanted to experience it and went out. And I LOVED IT!! I did go even more slow than I normally do (about 6.0 km/h) and took very small steps, keeping my feet close to the ground as I had read. And honestly? Running was easier then walking! I only did about 400 meter less then I normally run in 30 minutes, ending up at 2.90 km (I am SLOW) and that included 3 stops to make pictures. You have to be very careful of course, but as I say, I really LOVED it!
Hi whovian1991! Lots of brave souls are out and about running. I am too, but here in the SW we don’t have snow to contend with (yet) and “all” I had to deal with yesterday on my long trail run was the biting easterly wind and freezing temperatures. I felt nice and warm actually. A couple of thin long sleeved tops, a wind proof jacket, leggings, a buff round my neck and gloves. Also, as it was sunny, I was wearing sunglasses which I’m sure helped in the wind. 😎
My run wouldn’t have been affected much by snow (great trail shoes), but I’d avoid ice like the plague. Everything is manageable with the right gear! Happy running. 😀
