I haven't posted in a long time, but still lurking in the background reading the posts and enjoying all your running journeys.
However, I now feel the need for some advice from the vast collective knowledge of this group. My running is going well atm (famous last words) and have completed another 10K for the first time in a while yesterday. I need a new challenge and 10 miles seems like it should be the next step, although knowing what I am like, I want to get there yesterday which would be a recipe for disaster and I will be on the IC before you know it!!
So I would love to hear how you made it to 10 miles, the approach you took and how long you took to get from 10K to 10 miles.
Cheers
V.

I was literally just thinking of asking this myself!! I've done the magic plan then 10 km 3x but I'm drifting a bit with motivation. I can't run very fast so distance is better for me than timed runs. The weather doesn't help. December runs have either been 6.5km or less. But I have picked up a bit since the hols started. I need another goal, maybe?
Yeah why not... 10 miles sounds like your new goal. I find that a lot of my motivation comes from running new routes, I love mapping them out. I am lucky that where I live the countryside is on my doorstep, took a footpath yesterday that I had never run before, ended up running across various fields, extremely muddy, but fun.
I'm lucky too with no need to get in a car to access good routes and I'm on st Oswalds way but the mud and water just too much ATM. I already slipped on a walk this week...mud everywhere!! I tend to stick to some farm roads nearby.
Great that you're ready for the next challenge. I reached 10miles in the summer following a wonderful plan. Lockdown 1 saw me doing mega kms per month so I knew my legs were good,I Moved house, tried out new routes of different lengths trusting my body. Ran one that I thought was 12km turned out 14k but I had to get home and dont ever walk on a run. Realised 14k was nearly 10 miles so after playing around a bit between 8 and 12k just went for the 10 miles which turned out to be a 17km run. See, easy plan to follow🤣 I think the main thing is have patience, get the cumulative distances in the legs, trust yourself and your body, dont attempt to hit any speed records. Good luck and happy running 🤗
Random plan like it 😉 The problem I am going to have is that I run 10K at the same speed as I do 5K, so will no doubt try the same with 16K! I will have to concentrate to take it easier and I think I need to consolidate with a few more 10Ks and then slowly build up.
