Three days of driving, rubbish motorway sandwiches, French hotels really doing well with health regulations, armed with every sort of travel document, car filled with food to see us through 10 days’ strict UK isolation.

It has a huge advantage as there’s no argument about who we spend Christmas with. Just us!!!

Now I’m getting over a body really stiff after all those hours driving, a house so cold and damp and getting ready to running on the spot for 10 days on the patio. Not a whole 10 days’ running.

And guess what idiot left his Garmin 45 charger cable behind? Hoping for a replacement via Amazon tomorrow. It’d be terrible not to have confirmation that I’ve had an awful night’s sleep!

Planning my Boxing Day out-of-the-trap run.

Thank you, Ogr. I’m thinking of strategies to make running on the spot interesting! No need for GPS I think.

Looking forward to your run report on Boxing Day 😁👍🏃‍♂️ - out- of-the-trap run 🤣 and I know what you mean about the tech telling you how badly you slept 🤣😬

The tech can make you a hypochondriac 😳I have no idea how it judges REM and it seems to regard lying awake for hours as “light sleep”.

Replacement charger should arrive today so l can get back into worrying!

Thank you, B34. Some warmth is now seeping into these old stones. And old bones!

Welcome home brrr, you need to invest in a hive system to get that heating on ahead of future returns. Take care, your boxing day run will be a very special one. 🤗

I’ve seen those hive things, Gh. All a bit modern for this part of darkest Cornwall. I have a system called Bob who was supposed to switch on the central heating the night before, but went to the pub and forgot. 🤔

🤣🤣 you'll appreciate the home comfort all the more once you're up to temperature

Welcome back HeavyFoot . Enjoy all those French goodies until you are let out again.

A pyramid of canned vegetables and fish that’s all. I had planned to buy a half ton of cheeses but they really are my downfall!😋

I know what you mean. I do love their canned cassoulet and confit canard though. Our little shopping trips across the channel have reduced of late.

Enjoy your time in Blighty HeavyFoot ! I'm staying put (not least because we have no property in the UK 🙃) and will be delighted to eat French cheeses on your behalf, should you so wish. 😇

Tuck in! I love most French cheeses with a particular fondness for old Comté. They all take some running off.

Are you in the middle of getting the new residents’ card?

Cmoi profile image

We got our 10-year residence cards two years ago but still have to exchange them for new ones, grr, as they're no longer considered valid post-Brexit. Sent them in as soon as the website went live in October and are waiting for the appointment to finalise them. We also swapped our driving licences a while ago.

I've applied for nationality. Got a voicemail the other day saying they're registering my application as it's all complete, but they need new translations of the official General Register Office translated documents I've already supplied! I've emailed them to ask why and point out that French goverment sources say the GRO translations are acceptable. Probably won't do any good though.
