The bright blue skies and scuttling white clouds said Yes Run !

My slightly tired body said Nooooo ! Tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™

The day won , it was a very lovely day , maybe a little cold ?๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ ( I thought on my quite sheltered 5 minute walk home from work ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ )

Today was my long run , 44 mins and I needed to get my pace slow and steady from the outset ( deja vu ๐Ÿ™„ I think I say this a lot ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜‚) my longest run so far has been 39 mins and that requires a bit of โ€˜doubling back โ€˜ once Iโ€™ve run down to the lighthouse and back towards the village . This coastal road has been โ€˜my friendโ€™ from the start of C25K , itโ€™s flat, long and offers the distractions of the sea on both sides with shipping , leisure boats, tiny local fishing boats and of course lots of noisy seagulls, oystercatchers and the odd curlew. There are the โ€˜hardy golfersโ€™ hitting balls from morning until night in all weathers in the adjacent course and dog walkers on their way to the beach.

I got my slow start and managed for most of the run to keep it that way. I still find lots of periods in the run that are โ€˜hard goingโ€™ but they seem to pass as I regain rhythm. I knew to get 44 mins done Iโ€™d need to double right back to The Point again and I was happy enough to do this because Iโ€™d finish right at the benches at the lighthouse so I could pause awhile and enjoy the sky , the sea and the views before a long walk home ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚ .

I did increase my pace over the last 2K and I did find that extra 6 minutes a bit of an ask but I was also determined not to be looking at my time so actually it was a nice surprise to find Iโ€™d done 45 mins as I got to the road end.

The way out was cold but I still had to peel off my top layer once I got into the run, when I did my u turn and came back on myself it was Baltic with a sharp north east wind. I dithered about putting my top back on as I passed a couple of walkers with hats , gloves and winter jackets on, as I thought I must look ridiculous in a t shirt .

Luckily they werenโ€™t the same ones I passed on Tuesday in the pouring rain ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚Itโ€™s a small village theyโ€™ll be getting concerned ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

So all done ๐Ÿ‘ 5.5 K in my 44 mins , longest Iโ€™ve run . Had a lovely 5 mins rest and then headed home , thatโ€™s when I really felt the cold, had stuff my hands up my sleeves ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ

I have a bad habit of dawdling home instead of walking briskly , today I was positively power walking home ๐Ÿ’จ๐ŸŒฌ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Happy running = Happy Days ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Nice one! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ I also seem to always have one layer too much! Hereโ€™s to getting the number of layers correct and not overheat! Nice pics!

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ Definitely need to consider the โ€˜winter wardrobeโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜‚, gloves for sure my fingers were painfully cold on way back . Iโ€™m going to give that arm workout video you shared a try ๐Ÿ‘Œ keep off my wee tired legs ๐Ÿ˜‚

Well done! Sounds like a lovely run!

I was in two minds Wednesday on whether to break out the leggings or not. In the end I stuck with my usual Capri 3/4 shorts (have pockets!), running vest and fleece. Concession to the wind was woolly hat and fingerless gloves. Gloves stuffed in pockets and fleece tied around waist after about 2km ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฅต

How are you finding the longer runs? Iโ€™m surprised to find that Iโ€™m quite enjoying them ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I know the only day I took gloves they were redundant in ten mins . Really couldโ€™ve done with them yesterday though . Might get a warm lightweight pair to go in my belt. The wind chill made it 1 degree and thereโ€™s the โ€˜first snaw on the Benโ€™ โ„๏ธโ„๏ธ so need to think about winter running .

I donโ€™t think Iโ€™m quite as comfortable as you with the runs but I also think thatโ€™s down to pace and the psychology of the run.

I slowed down but maybe not quite enough .

Sometimes 8pI feel I may trip if my feet go any slower ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ So a bit of work still to do on pace .

I might use my short run for pace & hills ๐Ÿค” just to try and improve.

I also need to work out some longer routes , Iโ€™m not a big fan of going round in repeating loops .

It makes me feel like Iโ€™m just โ€˜putting in timeโ€™ ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Very happy though with my 45 minutes and again itโ€™s all about trusting the programme .

Happy days ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Indeed! Iโ€™m lucky to have a choice of 3 flat routes ๐Ÿ˜Š The RiverWalk is a 2 mile loop...ideal for the short run. The Park Run course...5km obviously...using it for the 30 minutes, with a bit of extra walking.

The Canal gives me the ever extending there and back long route...itโ€™s actually about 30 miles to the basin at Brecon...Iโ€™m not likely to make it there any time soon ๐Ÿ˜‚

Strava gave my running pace as 9:34/km on Wednesday...thatโ€™s how slow I go ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Hoping for a small dryish window this afternoon for my quick (!) short run ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

Plenty mileage there then ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜‚ looks nice too .I can loop over to the next village and back or take my usual route and take a detour round the other side of The Point .

It will be good to try it as I feel itโ€™s me thatโ€™s sort of restricting myself , need to just get โ€˜out on the open road โ€˜ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Thereโ€™s a lot of nice countryside behind us but we are at sea level and itโ€™s all uphill ( very uphill ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿ˜ณ) to get to that level .

Iโ€™m very lucky really I can just go out the door and run , Iโ€™ll work away at pulling the pace back and try and get the whole run to be โ€˜just soโ€™

I enjoy reflecting on it and thinking of what I need to do next ..... keeps me out of mischief ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Well done, itโ€™s great to catch up on your progress ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Sounds like a great run! 44mins.. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Today when Coach Bennet told me at 20mins I was halfway through, I squealed. How far weโ€™ve come eh?! ๐Ÿ˜…

I know exactly what you mean about running in loops. The longer my route is becoming, the more Iโ€™m finding I have to run and loop around the housing estate in the village and I donโ€™t enjoy it one bit. (Unless itโ€™s nighttime and no one is about).

Just a thought on winter wear: you could look for tops with cuffs that have thumb holes which help hold the sleeves over your hands to keep them warm. (Until youโ€™re ready to push them up to your elbows of course) ๐Ÿ˜Š Beats gloves when itโ€™s not quite cold enough.

I also wear a Buff (brand of thin snood). Itโ€™s cosy around my neck, or as a beanie or ear warmer/headband. Handy bit of versatile kit ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™m going to have to find longer routes ๐Ÿ˜‚Also in knowing tha5 the key for me is a slow down of pace , not listen to the gremlin ๐Ÿ‘น saying โ€˜ gosh youโ€™re so slow โ€˜ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh ! and get a pair of gloves ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ

Well done on your progress too ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Sounds like a definite improvement there RitS! Running gear in the cold is tricky, I've tried so many things. Gloves, and fingerless gloves, that mostly end up stuffed in a pocket, but my fingers turn blue if I don't start out with them on. Another good wheeze is those tops with extra long sleeves, with a thumb hole. Great to protect you from a cold wind.

Thanks , not quite there yet but must remember be grateful for any progress ๐Ÿ˜ƒI couldnโ€™t run at all a few months ago for goodness sake ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™„

Thumb hole sleeves sound good , ordinary long sleeve tops seem to be made for very long armed people and I look like my mum got me two sizes bigger so โ€˜Iโ€™d grow into itโ€™ . ๐Ÿ™„

Mostly it was my fingers really , didnโ€™t mind still being in leggings and t shirt , although people were looking at me like Iโ€™d maybe โ€˜wandered outโ€™ from somewhere ๐Ÿ˜‚

That's fanatic! Well done Racingingthesteeet! Your post made me shiver inside at the thought of the cold but I would take that any day over being too hot lol. It sounds like you're making brilliant progress and I love the power walk home haha! It just shows how much you've enjoyed it ๐Ÿ˜

So nice to see you on here again ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Iโ€™m sure life is busy for you , tricky working everything in now . Hope youโ€™re still getting out and working through B210K .

Your last post was showing great pace and distance , doing it with ease too ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Iโ€™m still sitting procrastinating , Iโ€™ve let the day slip away and itโ€™s now dark, cold and raining so Iโ€™m just going to negotiate with the dog to get him out a walk and then cosy in for the evening .

Tomorrowโ€™s another day ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Cosy evenings in autumn are just what the doctor ordered lol so I hope the negotiations weren't too tough! I'll try and post an update maybe next week as it sounds like we're at the same point in the magic plan. If I can make W4, R3 I'll add something lol. If not I'll read yours haha! ๐Ÿ˜‚
