Oh my - I need help please

This week - work wise has been really, really hard😟

This week family wise has been really, really hard😟

Feel a bit pathetic saying that but, seemed to have lost my running momentum as it were.

Only gone on treadmill for 3k - weather has been appalling 🌨🌨🌨 and I much prefer outdoors.

I know I need to kick myself up the backside ... like ... how lucky am I that I have an indoor option ?

Stop moaning and get on with it I’m telling myself

I was looking forward to reaching 10k by end of October but now realise I’m going to fail 😣

Here’s hoping 10k will be a November success story instead 🏃‍♀️🤞🤔

Happy running to all my fellow runners - hope things are better with you all ❤️

I'd hoped to be doing 10km or an hour by now too. Life doesn't always go to plan.

All you can do is work with what you're dealt and make the best of it.

Ahh - thanks Nowster - Feeling a bit sorry for myself Ithink and need to snap out of it.

Done 70 mins ✅ but nowhere near 10k 🤣

Need to keep going for about 90mins🤪

I don’t care about time really ... I just want that 10k in my pocket.

New target is end of November🤞

Perhaps we’ll achieve it next month ?

Realistically, if I reach 5km by the middle of November I'll be very pleased.

And if I'm hitting the 6km point at the end of the month (two weeks at 10% increase), that'll be amazing. The very earliest I should be going for 10km would be 7 weeks after re-graduation, which would be just after New Year.

That all assumes that no spanners hit the works in the meantime.

Calculation: 5 × (1.1)⁷ = 9.74

Hi 61Lady ! I’d say be kind to yourself - life’s pretty rubbish right now and you set yourself goals - but that’s it, you set them yourself, you can shift them yourself !! Not sure if you’ve listened to the headspace podcasts - the Nike run app has a few under a ‘mindful running pack’ category. Looks like they have special treadmill ones aswell - I’ve never used a treadmill so don’t know if it’s any good but might make it more interesting ? Sorry if this is not helpful !

Thank you J202.

I’ll try viewing it not as a fail but rather as a not achieved yet. Not tried the Nike app so thanks for the tip

I agree with the Nike running club app suggestion. It helped me focus after I graduated.

Also, not completing 10k by the end of the month is in no way a failure. Every month since August I've signed up for the strava half marathon challenge, but I haven't completed it yet. I don't regard that as failure - it's a goal still to aim for. You only fail when you stop trying!

Good luck 👍

Just a bad hard patch for you 61lady, weather everywhere is bad, not had a dry day free of rain in the UK for a while, however, I notice from your post that the symbol is of snow, Canada, at least some parts of it, winter has began as early as 20th October, I am sure sure it won't be long before you can get out again and run a 10K.in November.

Yeah - you’re right AlMorr ... bad patch which will of course will pass.

I’m in UK - eyesight in bed without glasses obviously dodgy as I chose snowing instead of heavy rain 🙄

I live on south coast and it’s been very rainy and quite gusty- maybe that’s the remedy for me though - get out and blow the cobwebs away 🤔

Sometimes life is hard - work can be rubbish, families can be a nightmare so allow yourself to feel this. Give yourself time and the running will still be there when you are ready. Sometimes goals can’t be achieved but then we can move the goalpost so we can achieve.

Hope you feel brighter soon, no kick up the backside needed just some gentle time for you. Perhaps 10k by Christmas?

Thanks for encouragement TN1.

You’re right ... It’s my goal and by moving it to November it means I still have the joy of achieving it to come. 👍🏃‍♀️💪

Oh dear, you are giving yourself a hard time. ❤ I would just acknowledge that you've had a difficult week, but try to get rid of words such as 'fail' from your thoughts. Look where you are - you can run for an hour, are well on the way to a 10k. If it takes a week or so longer to hit that 10k who is judging you?

I don't know if you're doing the magic plan or how near you are to that distance, so it maybe that you're so close that you could cheat and just go for it (I'll get told off for suggesting that maybe).

It's interesting that sometimes when we need the headspace of a run because of difficult times, we're often not able to run because of the gremlins!

Take good care of yourself, listen to what you need perhaps, rather than what others need from you. My husband used to be in the merchant navy, and his mantra is 'one hand for the ship, one hand for yourself.

Good luck.

😱You used the F word.....Fail....you haven’t failed and you’re not pathetic either. The end of November is a long way away and if you want to reach 10k by then badly enough, you definitely will. As Henry Ford once said:

‘Whether you think you can or you think you can’t you’ll probably be right’

You’ve had a tough week by the sound of it so cut yourself some slack, work and family can be demanding and exhausting. Next week is a new week so be a bit more selfish and invest in some YOU time so you can reach your November goal....Good Luck ....I look forward to reading your post entitled....Found It ! 👍

Wow! I actually see this as a positive post 😃

You want to go and the urge is there. You've done a bit but obviously would like more. All positive signs.

I think this is when we need running the most, when we are busy at work and with family. It is our Oasis. Those things that keep us busy or stressed will always be there so we run as a way to unwind, be mindful and escape in our little world for a bit.

You certainly haven't failed at all. You're on your way and that's the important thing. Maybe if we don't try we fail but it's in you and you'll get there again.

Set days and go, regardless of weather. Even if it's just 15 or 20 mins to start with. Just go and you'll feel a whole lot better. There'll come a day for one reason or another where we won't be able to run so while you can, you really must!

Hello 61Lady , I'm going to congratulate you, because 3k on a treadmill when you're having a horrible time sounds like a success to me. I've never run indoors in my life, and hate the idea!

It's not that long since you graduated C25K, so just think how far you've come already. You can, and will, definitely reach your 10k goal.

Get out there when you can, because all the runs count, however short or slow. Post for support whenever you need it. And above all, be kind to yourself :)

Happy running!
