Well it’s here. The night before. My 10k Eve, my first Race Day Eve. Exciting right?
It feels like a real special day Eve, like Christmas Eve, everything’s prepared (even the body hopefully 😬) all laid out, bib, pins, hat, socks, shoes, batteries charged, post run breakfast 🍳 food in the fridge, I’ve had my bath, all clean 😁....sounding more like Christmas isn’t it, ....all that’s missing is the pre supper sherry 😘 and the 🍷. A nice glass of water with ice and a slice 😋 ummm...🤔
Now the sad bit. Even special days have them. Some of you will remember a post featuring our beloved rescue cat Dolly. (Cravings ....and the cats equivalent of the mad half hour) Tomorrow I will be running in her memory, 😢 sadly killed on a road in our village last week.
Now she is helping me to raise funds for our much needed local Cancer Unit opening next year. (If you live in North Norfolk and want to support this see details on the poster.)
The oh dear bit. After avoiding running injuries all year ( well apart from falling over 🙄) I managed to acquire a groin strain on Wednesday 😱 .....a mad moment when I suddenly started sprinting up the fairway to right a fallen flagstick on the green, why? 🤨 I didn’t realise what I’d done until yesterday morning when I got out of bed 🙊oops. A gentle walk today, ouch to begin with but then seemed OK. Brother physio says, ‘Just take it easy you mad woman, no sudden sprinting necessary or desirable!’ Oh yes and I should confess I’ll be breaking the 10% rule, only run 8k so far 🤷🏻♀️
So here goes.....I’m so excited 😆
