Hello all,
It’s getting towards Christmas! Any advice on good running watches? I’d be interested in things like distance, time, and health things like heart rate would be interesting.
Any suggestions please?

I don't have one but the word Garmin comes up here on the forum as being a wonderful watch for running.
My husband bought me a Garmin forerunner 45 for my birthday this week and I’m hooked lol. I bought him a Garmin 245 last year and he loves it but too much tech for me. Mine does everything I need it to, distance, time, steps, heart, sleep analysis also candence and plenty more. Also has coached programmes too. You won’t go wrong with Garmin.
Thanks JulesL69, I’ll look both up. I’m not that techy so yours sounds ideal.
I’m sure other people will have some good ideas too. I found mine easy to use which is a plus lol. Also pairs with Strava etc. Can be addictive though!
I have a Garmin 3 vivoactive music which I like.
Thank you Lizcanrun. I’ve not been listening to music, does it make a difference to the choice and cost if music isn’t that necessary?
The Vivoactive 3 comes with or without music, and it’s cheaper without. It’s a perfectly good watch, collects all the running data, and you can use it for other things too like cycling or swimming or rowing, though the GPS gets a bit erratic in the sea.
I've had my garmin forerunner 35 for over a year now and love it. Has all you're looking for and very easy to use😊
Thank you Buddy34. I shall do a bit of research into that model but sounds great.
I think any of the Garmins will do what you need, some are pitched slightly more at running, some at triathlon. Then it just depends which functionality you want. I wanted to be able to listen to music or apps without taking my phone, I wanted a touch screen and I wanted something that looked slightly less techy so I would enjoy wearing it all the time. All these functions change the price. I went for the Garmin Vivoactive 4s (s being small) it does everything I wanted and a bunch of stuff i didn't know I wanted and I love it. I think most people are happy with the one they get so make sure to get the one that fits what you will find most important for you. 😊
Super advice NetCadet and thanks for taking the time to respond. I’m going to do some research and come back to the community before pressing any buttons! Have a lovely rest of the running weekend! 030861
Btw I asked this a couple of months ago before buying mine and had heaps of great advice. Here's the post healthunlocked.com/bridgeto...
I got the Garmin 45s (smaller face than the 45 - I have tiny wrists) two months ago. I love it. I can't imagine wanting any more data detail than it provides. I am quite obsessed with the body battery function, and horrified at how much a single glass of wine at dinner affects by heart rate until well into the night. So the Garmin has resulted in my pretty much giving up drinking completely!
I love that I can watch my heartrate as I run, and doing so has enabled me to run further as I don't get as knackered if I try to stay in Zone 3.
I carry my phone with me so I had no need for on board music. Plus I listen to Kindle when I run anyway! Music messed with my cadence.
Hi hubby bought me a garmin vivoactive 4s
Love it picked it over the forerunner because I preferred the look😳still havnt figured out everything yet buy i am getting there x
I just ordered the Garmin FR 245. It will arrive next week so I have no experience with it specifically but all the reviews I read and watched were great. I was contemplating the 45s but wanted the extra features the 245 offered. Garmin is definitely a great brand. I had an old school basic FR10 that only gave time, distance and pace but I knew I was staying with Garmin when I upgraded.
