Felt like my hip had improved over these past 10 days rest, and I was desperate to get back out there today. I've kept up the exercises suggested by my physio who said when the pain had reduced to '2/10' I could start running again.
So out I went for a gentle 30min interval run with Coach Cory on NRC. I thought perhaps intervals might give me a bit more recovery time during my run, and even though the stop/start nature of interval running was frustrating, I managed to complete 5k.
Came home, did some stretches, then got back to work (sitting on my ball ready for some Zoom meetings). But when I stood up an hour later, I could barely stand up straight. Ouch.... the old pain in my left hip seems to have travelled down my hip and is now 3 inches lower than it was before and now at pain level 7/10 again. Does that mean another 10 days off? I feel like I'll be back to C25K at this rate, rather than hitting the illusive 10k before Christmas, which was my grand plan!
Frustrated, confused and a bit unsure as to what to do next.

Oh bad luck! I wonder if intervals might have been a bit much today? Rest up and see, maybe use some ice and perhaps start out with s couple of very short exploratory runs to see how things are feeling. Good luck
Thanks Roxdog. I remember reading you've had your fair share on the IC - I guess it happens to most of us at some time - but look where you are now! An inspiration!
Hello 58soon, I am in the same situation I was so close to finish my 5K and a horrible pain in the right side of my pelvis started. I was doing my Week 8/ 2/3 session when it happened. I have to stop for 2 weeks and just now started again but the pain still there its not as bad as the first week. Yesterday morning I did my week 9, 1/3 and didn't have any problems and today I have the wonderful idea of going to the gym and did 25 mins of jogging again, BIG MISTAKE, it's painful now and worried that I can run on friday my one of my last running to graduate. I just wanted to share with you and with everyone. I hope you get better soon!!!! X
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that DancinStat1. It's so frustrating isn't it, but actually helps a little to know I'm not alone!
Have you seen anyone about your hip? I had one session with the physio, and her best advice was not to do anything that makes it hurt more. You know sometimes it feels good to stretch it out? Well for me, she said DON'T DO THAT!!
I really hope you can graduate on Friday, but don't over-do it, or you'll be on the IC for even longer. X
Oh 58soon, how disappointing for you, I’m sorry to hear about your hip pain recurring especially after you’d been so patient. I hope you are able to get some good advice form your physio and soon recover. Maybe when you get going again some slow shorter run/walks to build back up more slowly. Hope it’s feeling much better again soon 🤗
