Off work this week, and I'm endeavouring to make up for only getting 2 runs in last week by planning to do 3 5ks and a 10k this week. First one this morning, round what is becoming my customary 5k circuit. More dog walkers out than I was expecting at just before 8am, and had to jink round a couple, indeed I almost fell over two who decided to have a bit of a sniffing contest just as I approached...
First km was a bit of a slow one, but I managed to get in my stride remarkably quickly, I must actually be getting fitter! Apart from the first km, all the splits were below 6 minutes which I'm chuffed to bits with. I think the way to go, for me anyway, is going to be a couple of 30 minute/5k runs in the week and a longer one at the weekend when I have more time, at least until we get the lighter nights again. I'm already measuring out a couple of 5k courses round the estate for the darker evenings mind you!
5k seemed to come up remarkably quickly, so I decided to keep going until the 30 minute buzzer on my watch went off... I will admit to backing off the pace after 5k mind you, but it was only 45 seconds! Roll on Wednesday, and a change of scenery...
