Not a great week for me this week - work has been very stressful for various reasons. This had a knock on effect on my runs and I only ran twice this week for short runs. So I'm quite a bit behind my LeJoG target for the week. I went out for a run on Saturday and it was one of those horrible ones that never seem to settle, so rather than do a long run, I cut it short at 4k. Oh well - wasn't so long ago I would have been chuffed to bits with that
This is a new week - so let's get cracking again!

It's the memory of the great ones that keep us going!
Exactly this! Do what you can do and then when things settle you can do it differently. Besides, two runs is still something positive so well done and here's to another blank canvas ahead. I just think of runs as leaves on a tree. The more you do the more there are but even if you can't do as many for whatever reason then all your previous runs are there and you're still adding leaves 😁
Sorry to hear you hear a bad week 🤞this one is much better at work and with your run s. As you say not long ago you would have been over the moon at 4k. And as you've told me before 4k it's 4k all good experience for your legs 😊
I've wanted to ask you how do you get on with your foam roller? I've just bought one as I'm aware my left hamstring is a bit tight after a run.
I'm ashamed to admit that I've not yet got into the habit of using this and doing the related exercises. It's a habit that I really need to establish. When I used it it was quite sore but apparently its meant to be sore on the parts that need it... Lots of people swear by it. Thanks for reminding me - I really ought to get into using it properly and regularly. I bet others on the forum will give you a better response as I think there are quite a few folk who use them.
I have found running to be very similar to how you hear drug addicts refer to drugs as trying to chase that high. You work so hard and train so hard and then you get to a point where your comfortably running 5K without too much effort, and even at the end you feel like you could do it all over again. You've ran the perfect run. Then the next day you go out it's awful and you spend months trying to get that feeling you got after that perfect run. Chasing that high through run after run. That is certainly me this year.
You still got out despite a stressful week, that is what counts. Well done.
I'm with you on that one - if I can't settle on a run, I cut it short. There're plenty of stressful things out there, no need to add to them! But even a bad run makes us stronger and fitter 💪😃
Thanks! I've stopped making myself carry on regardless - we do this for fun, right? I take it as a positive that I can now spot a stinker-in-the-making fairly early on in a run If things haven't improved after 10 minutes then I'll carry on to just get 30 mins in the legs then call it a day. No need for self flagellation
You’re not alone Fionamags, not every week can go to plan but we can always put a crappy week behind us and start again 😃 I hope you have a much better week 🤗
Oh stressful work - join the club! I haven't run since Saturday - busy plus work is pretty gruelling at the moment. You have my empathy! At least you got out there, we'll done. A run is better than no run! It's times like these that I think I can't run, what nonsense is that!
I know that I will feel better for getting outside and doing something else, but that is a lot easier said than done... Hope you can make time for your runs too.
