Help!!!!!!

Just started my consolidation runs a couple of weeks ago and got into a nice pattern. However I landed awkwardly off a curb that was slightly higher than expected as I was turning right, causing discomfort to the inside of my left knee. It stopped hurting once I got home, but hurts every time I run. But fine when I’m not.

Realising it’s not going to get better if I keep running on it, I’m trying to self-impose a weeks RICE.

But I’m so miserable - haven’t run for 4 days and it feels like a lifetime. Watched the London Marathon and was desperate to go out. Envious reading all the great running posts.

How long must I wait until I can run again? Is there anything I can do instead? Will it set me back with my fitness? Will I even be able to run 5k again? Will I have to start C25k again? (ok, these escaped from my irrational mind).

Totally empathise, but you re doing the correct thing... not running.

Loads of non load bearing exercise on the Strength and Flex forum which will keep the rest of that running body fit...

Many of us have been on the IC and for a lot longer. ( My longest was 12 weeks), Fitness stays with us... but after two weeks, we will need a gentle run back into things though. ( Not necessarily starting C25K again) !

I know it feels as if it is a real issue, but you will recover, you will run again.

If there is no improvement, even with your initial short term self treatment...then do seek professional advice:)

Squats should help as you can see how you feel and alter accordingly. I'd probably give it a gentle run but obviously am no medical expert at all 🙈

You will get back though. Try to keep strengthening and stretching as you can and keep it moving. Cycling? Too much RICE can be counter productive as well. You'll be back out again soon 😊

Yes I was going to get out on my bike this week. I love swimming but I don’t particularly fancy going to the car in a wet costume afterwards 🤣

Yes, I agree. I also agree with the wine and cheese on your profile 🙈 Cycling will be a good test for it and a safer way of getting going. Then after a few goes I'd give running a shot again. The important thing is to get back and stay back so this part now is going to get you there 😊

Got out at lunchtime, dodged the showers and did 12km on my bike instead. Knee is absolutely fine!
