This week has gone by so fast π². The weather hasnβt been great π, but Iβm so pleased with my drive and motivation. Iβve been out whatever the weather (and Iβve enjoyed it π). I never thought Iβd be saying that π!
Yesterday was my long run day in my Garmin 10k plan. The weather was really bleak with heavy rain, but I took advantage of the rainy weather (and no Parkrun) and went to the park normally used for Parkrun ππ½ββοΈ π² π³ . I enjoyed the rain and the open space!! π§ ...π! I only saw 2 other runners and a couple of dog walkers in the park!! Due to the weather, it was pretty deserted π.
The Jeff Galloway plan has been working really well for me. Iβm really pleased that I have reached less than 700 miles to go after 6 weeks on LEJOG4 π¬π§ too. And...Iβm in a position in the high 200βs at the moment...π²...π!
Good to read that you haven't allowed the awful weather to slow you down Fabulous. I think I would run better in a pair of flippers then trainers in my neck of the woods at the moment!
So Sgt Garmin got the old heave-ho in favour of a promotion? Well, chances are that the new Sgt Major Garmin will have high expectations of you as you have been doing so well. Happy running π
Thanks so much π€. There are certainly a lot more ponds around and about today. It was a good move getting out fairly early yesterday π€. I might have to dig the flippers out for Tuesday too! πβ€οΈ
This weeks weather has been a bit of a challenge for a lot of people, glad you managed to get out and run, you are doing so well on the LeJog i am enjoying reading peopleβs progress
Ah thanks so much WillowandSola! π€ Itβs not forecast to be that great next week either, so I hope its good practice for me. The plan is really helping to get out regularly and ticking off those LEJOG miles. Hope youβve both had a great week!π Iβm just catching up with everyone now! β€οΈ
My mileage includes daily steps WillowandSola!! Iβm still only running 3 times a week on the plan. Saturdayβs are the long run. I do rack up the miles a bit (for me π) on that one. Iβm out for an hour, but you I donβt even notice it with the warm up and cool down. Iβm getting a bit younger on the V02 Max thingy, but not young enough! πππβ€οΈ
That Vo2max thingy is funny, if I donβt put in too much effort or it doesnβt go on too long I get younger but the longer run makes me older, I was down to fitness age 49 but iβm back up to 53 now and trying not to be disappointed
Im 49 at the moment, but I was 57 before! π I wonβt be giving it too much thought WillowandSola! If I did my principle of βout there donβt careβ would be out of the window! I hope to surprise myself from time to time, but thatβs about it π. Donβt let the stats distract us from the joy! There was a time when we didnβt even know what V02 Max was. ππβ€οΈ
Sometimes Iβve wondered if itβs worth it because we plod along so slowly, then one day we went for a 5k walk along the river and it seemed to take forever to get to 2.5k until we could turn round and walk back, made us realise how much faster running actually is, I love that we can just keep plodding on, we have the 3k run next and iβm looking forward to speeding up a little for that one, Willows knee is a bit sore and i walked into something at work the other day which has left a huge sore bruise on my thigh but we can still run yay π
You're doing great on the LeJog - less than 700 already!! I think I will be taking the full year.... Shame about Sgt Garmin but the new model will no doubt step up and get you marching again! The weather has suddenly brightened up again just now - just typical when I had a right soggy run yesterday. Aren't we marvellous though for getting out in it???
I am counting total steps on LEJOG, so mine is not all running, but Iβm out running regularly on 3 days a week, which was the goal π.
Sgt Major Garmin is on full form, though he doesnβt seem to tell me to move! Maybe Iβm moving enough now...π² or heβs just settling me in! π!
Hope youβre enjoying clocking up those miles too! π€β€οΈ
So, Court Martial for Sgt Garmin is it? Glad his replacement is doing his duty - with your LEJOG commitments you canβt wait for slackers to catch up! Happy running!
Thanks so much jorgeRuns!! Itβs really so good to have that need a run feeling!! πβ€οΈ
You deserve to feel so chuffed with yourself. It radiates through this post. Love how you go out regularly and whatever the weather. Consistency is absolutely everything ππππ
Thank you so much GTFC!! π€ Yes, it is a great feeling. Heavy rain was forecast for my last two runs, but I actually had sunshine on the first one. Not yesterday though! π, but I was smiling during the run because I did it!...Run anyway!! I think where I run makes such a difference for me. Parks, woods and forests are my absolute favourites. π₯°
Congratulations again on the VLM!! π π So, so pleased for you!! π€β€οΈ
Brilliant week Fab. Yes the weather has been pretty dire, but I donβt think us runners mind as much as others. Maybe we draw the line at strong wind though .... π¨
Ahh so youβve commandeered Sgt Major Garmin now have you? Youβd better be on top form! Of course you will, itβs you! ππ
I chuckled because Iβve been in my home patch on LeJog4 - Iβve just passed Bristol so I popped home for a cuppa! π€£
Thanks so much Cheeky!! π€ After Sgt Garmin deserted his post π€¨ and left me without supervision, I ran past my own home town and Iβm now in Bristol! So Iβll pass by your house and ask the family for a coffee!! ππ...enjoy!! πβ€οΈ
Thank you! Youβll be long gone Cheeky, but tell the family, milk, no sugar! πππ. π€«π€«π€«....We will have champagne in JOG π! πΎπ₯
Thanks so much Instructor57!! π€ I use a little self- persuading rationale that I wonβt know what the weather will be like on my personal virtual 10k race day, so itβs practice (and...letβs face it...the weather may not be too fine for a bit! )π....onwards we go ππ½ββοΈ...π¦Ύ...π€.
Having tried it, it was a lot better than I thought it would be. I wonβt be doing any thunder and lightning though π₯΄...and there will be more walks if itβs snowing π₯΄π₯΄...thereβs limits πβ€οΈ.
Just catching up with London Marathon now. Also put Jeff Galloway on my next workout plan. And I find I love planning sets of weekly runs & workouts. Oh no, I have turned into a runner π€£π€£
But wow, you are swooshing up the country in RunLEJOG! Canβt keep up π and ... almost 200 miles, wow!!! π€ͺπ²ππππ
Jeff gives little clips before the run, but theres no guide on the run. I do like a guided run! π It still works really well, as the Sgt Major Garmin buzzes you with details of the requirements on the watch at each stage of the run πββοΈ...π£...ππ½ββοΈ.
Really pleased with the LEJOG miles. Iβm feeling like Iβm getting fitter too. πβ€οΈ
Ah, you are on fire Fabulous! πππ»Good for you making a positive thing about the weather- there is something really enjoyable about having a wet park almost to yourself. π I too headed for the park in the rain & had peace & quiet- just a couple of hardy toddlers in mini wellies rushing from puddle to puddle (so cute) while their big brothers/ sisters searched for conkers. π
Ah thanks so much Elfe5! π€ Yes, I love the parks. It was great! The kids out searching for conkers! Brings back memories... so sweet! π₯° Your run sounded great too! π
We sometimes have a little problem with flooding at the little park nearby and others get a bit muddy, so itβs probably going to be quite a trial and error adventure this winter. πβ€οΈ
