That LeJoG has got a lot to answer for! I have a weekly target to meet so I needed to get 5 miles in today. It was pouring, grey and miserable and there is not a chance that I would have set foot out of the door if it weren't for the fact that I was stuck on the Penzance bypass. (Virtually, that is...) So I pulled on the trusty Ghosts, donned my lightweight cycling waterproof and off I went.
I got lots of smiles from other soggy runners on the canal - I even got the respectful nod at one point π€£π€£π€£. It rained relentlessly - in fact it hasn't stopped all day. But I am very pleased with myself for actually setting off in the rain! Just checked the map and I'm off the Penzance bypass and now on the Hayle bypass π. Ho hum. Highlane's Fish and Chip shop along the road a bit so it'll be chish and fips for tea! (No sign of cake...) Rest day tomorrow- CaptFrey and UnfitNoMore are only a mile away - shall we meet up for a few beverages later??

Well done Fiona, you are braver than me, I donβt mind light rain but heavy rain is a big No. The rain here in soggy wet Wales has been awful today. You have big kudos from me today.
You canβt let bad weather stop you running in the UK. Youβd never run from October to March otherwise π€£ Well done ππ½
Hats off to you for your soggy wet run. I like running in the rain but I have been thankful to be on rest days yesterday and today as it's been torrential here and we've had some flooding. My turn tomorrow though.....
Enjoy your fish n' chips, I think you have earned them π
Good run for you today Fiona, I hope you enjoy your fish and chips at High lanes shop for tea, I am sure you will meet UnfitNoMore in a few days time as he is only a mile away and enjoy a little beverage. π ππΎ
I don't think a runner/walker could cheat on LeJog, for example if someone took a bus or train 50 miles, the administrators of LEJOG would know, there would be a big blank of 50 miles on the progress map they saw of anyone doing that.
Well done Fionamags, the rain hasn't stopped all day here either. Isn't it nice when you get a wave or a nod from another runner even more when the rain is dripping off us. Enjoy your fish and chips πββοΈππ
I thought that initially but I'm counting my steps for walks etc on non run days. so this week I ran (3 times) for a total of 21k and the 6k remaining for my goal each week was easily done from walking. You can convert the steps to distance - if you have Garmin it does it for you.
I didnβt realise you could convert steps to distance I imagined having to go on long walks every non run day, we are doing the magic plan so will stick with that for now, in a week we have run 13.5k so would need to do a lot more
my husband does 10k steps a day just walking around at school. Depends on what your day job is like - mine is v sedentary so I have to make an effort on non run days even if its just a short walk.
Thanks. Btw I checked my heart rate zones on Garmin and zone 5 is the same as yours - upwards of 170. So it must readjust itself when you change the max HR.
Great work getting out despite the weather. It is a bit addictive isn't it! I'm on LeJog5 and just passed 97 miles today (managed to catch a dry spell, though it was very muddy), so of course I am plotting how I could get another three miles in tomorrow despite the horrendous weather! I shouldn't really be running again tomorrow and going for a walk in the rain somehow seems a lot more eccentric than going for a run in the rain. Maybe it will have to be Monday instead, but I have a postcard to earn...
5 miles in the rain is impressive! I'm finding lejog a great motivator too but I must admit I added another test day to avoid Friday when it rained all day.
After resting an injury last week I was determined to run this weekend. I came back looking like a drowned rat but run I did (and my injury held up too!) π
Hey well done!!! I did my first run last week in the rain and head on winds and like you dreaded it, but I loved it!! The other thing I did was overdress, far too many clothes and then topped off with waterproof top and trousersI Won't do that again!! πββοΈπ
OMG waterproof trousers? You must have been soaked in sweat never mind the rain! I just wore short sleeved top, capri pants and lightweight rain jacket.
