Hi, I completed c25k and consolidated with a few weeks. Today I started wk 1 jjmp, doing the timed version as I don't have a running watch. 15mins seemed SO short but I feel this will change! Does anyone recommend a simple running device to check speed, distance & time please. The more basic the better as I'm not technically minded.

I have a watch but I also use the Nike run app, as it has so many features that may help.you can either set a distance or time and it tells you as you're going along how long you've been running for. The guided runs are brilliant. There are lots of different runs, different distances times etc, and you're guided all the way round by Coach Bennet. If you haven't tried it, give it ago before you spend out on expensive running watches. I'm sure there will be lots of other useful suggestions too.😆🏃‍♀️

Thank you, is the Nike app free and available on android do you know? I will have a look.

Yep it's free and on Android, but there are others as suggested in the other answers. I'd suggest you give a couple of the free apps ag and see how you feel to see if they give you what you want and need. I don't have a specific running watch, just my Charge 3 Fitbit but it tracks my time and gives me a breakdown of each km. I like the Nike app because the coach literally takes you through your run, but has to be your choice of what suits you 😆🏃‍♀️

The easiest way is a running watch because they are more accurate but you can also download a running app like runkeeper or Strava onto your phone, and they give you all sorts of stats 🙂 enjoy the magic plan, I've just finished the time version and I'm now working up to 10k on my own 👍🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Thanks, I will have a look, just don't want anything complicated. I am enjoying running so much that if I have to 'fiddle' with my phone it will spoil my freedom of running. Good luck with 10k

I know what you mean, that's why I ended up getting a watch, it's just a lot easier when you're out and about. I also use the Nike Run Club app that Hedgehogs recommended above. It is free and you get a lot of features and resources. I use their guided runs often but one word of caution - for some reason I can only get it to record runs correctly if I do a guided run. Today for example, I did 8k but it only recorded 1.5k! That's a bit annoying but otherwise, it's great 🙂👍

I have downloaded Nike run club, hope when I get to 8k it will be correct, that may be a way away though!

You'll get there before you know it! Good luck with the magic plan 😃

That's interesting what you say about the non guided runs, I have done some of those and when I compared to my watch the time and distance I thought was about right, but I'll keep an eye on that as I'm planning a 55 min run tonight. The difference I did notice was the pace per km. My watch seems more accurate. I'd love to say the Nike one is because it gives me a quicker pace, but don't think it's right unfortunately! 😂🏃‍♀️

Interesting. I'm getting a bit frustrated because it's affecting my 'achievements' on NRC, since it won't ever record more than .5-1.5k (if that!) unless it's a guided run 😒 on the other hand, all the stats after guided runs match my watch 100%! 🤷‍♀️

I just have Strava on my phone. Am running beyond 10k but Strava is enough for me. I don't want a watch as I will look at it all the time and it puts me off! You just download Strava and there is a free version. It tracks distance, pace and tells you about personal bests.

Thanks, I will have a look at that.
