Race Bib Magnets

If like me, you don’t like sticking safety pins into your lovely technical running tops, I found these magnets on the website of our local company runr. (Other shops may be available). I bought some for UpTheStanley for his birthday along with other runny presents and he got to try them out on Sunday at the New Forest Marathon. The lightweight magnets are very powerful and covered in a smooth plastic which does not snag on your skin. They remained in tact throughout the race and have been given the thumbs up by UTS, especially as they are in his footy team’s colour (mine are white).

The only warning is not to use them if you have a pace maker and keep them away from credit cards or key cards.

Just in case you didn’t know ...........

Edit: I have replaced the photo as seeing the actual magnets on the card made them appear somewhat large - they are less than 2cm x 1cm ........

Happy running everyone. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Thanks Dexy5 I’be been thinking of getting some of these. I’ve got quite a lot of running-related casual clothing from them and it’s all very good quality👍 But, as you say, other shops are available!😊

Me too David- I just love my zip up hoody. I also like their ethos that you should leave nothing but footprints when you run and that runners like chatting to other runners .

They look a bit bulky or is that just the photo. I feel I have enough frontage without adding bits!

No they are tiny Oldgirl (under 2x1cm). It’s just that the card they are attached to has a small picture of a runner so they look big.

That;s hilarious! I thought they were huge as well. That is a very poor marketing photo. :) :)

My fault, I stuck the magnets back on the card they came on, which had the picture of the man with his race number on. 🤣🤣

Thank goodness. I was imagining something enormous too, generating a huge magnetic force field!

May be worth editing the post to give the actual size Dexy - I was going to ignore this because the pic implies they're massive. Good to hear they work though 😊

Wow, way better thanks Dexy, and yes they’re tiny indeed! Would they work on ..... errrm ..... a woman shaped physique? 😅

I haven’t tried mine yet but they would be no different to safety pins, although much easier to put on. There’s the oblong button on top of the bib and a round button underneath the T-shirt and they just click together.

Oh, and how did UpTheStanley do in his race? Is there a race report? I’d hate to think I’d missed it if there is! 🏃‍♂️

He posted it on the bridge 3 days ago but I can’t seem to do a link. He did well for a trail - official time 57:37.
