Are there any lyrics that really say exactly the right thing, the thing you need to hear while you're running? I have a few:
"God it's so painful, something that's so close, and still so far out of reach" (Tom Petty, American Girl). This is one when I want to get to a particular distance and I just can't do it!
"If you're goin' through hell keep on going Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. But the good news is there's angels everywhere out on the street Holdin' out a hand to pull you back up on your feet" (If You're Going Through Hell, Rodney Atkins).
This forum are those angels for me, by the way!
And finally, there's a song back in the C25k podcast, the one with Laura as coach, around week 7 or so, that says something like "I just want to get out" or something like that. I think it's about a guy who wants to get out of a relationship, but I heard it for the first time when most of the world was in lockdown and it just seemed really funny to me, cuz EVERYONE just wanted to get out!!

Big Wheels roll through fields where sunlight streams, meet me in a land of hope and dreams- Springsteen, and many others of his Born to Run, The Rising, Badlands (it ain’t no sin to be glad that you’re alive..) to name but a few.
Wake me up when it's all over, when I'm wiser and I'm older (by Avicii ). Seriously, at the beginning of lockdown it ran through my head every time I went out.
Guetta/Sia "Titanium" was my theme song when teaching a particularly difficult class of teenage agricultural students a few years ago. I must try it for running!
OK, so I'm old enough to be P!nk's Mum, and anything but a rock star. In fact I sing Renaissance choral music! But that line summarises exactly how I feel at the end of a really good run
'Nothing's gonna break-a my stride' by Matthew Wilder. It keeps me running. I can never remember the rest of the words but I have this line going through my head over and over.
Two tracks by the Chemical Brothers - Go and Got to keep on . Really useful if they come on when I need a wee kick up the bum . Also Army of me , an old Bjork favourite, great for giving yourself a bit of a talking to !! Not so much Running on empty by Jackson Browne, but it’s often the case!!!
