Consolidation 24 - Another 10K 😊

Saturday morning means the run I look forward to the most - my long, slow run. I was pleased that I did keep in Zone 3 for almost all of this run, resisting the temptation to speed up for the last couple of kilometres. So today, I was not even out of breath at the end. πŸ˜€

Glorious sunny morning in the Norfolk fens today. Saw the sun come up soon after I started. I listened to 3 different albums on my run, Pink Floyd, Santana and Queen. 🎧 🎡

I began the run on a side road in the village that has newly laid tarmac. I usually tag this part at the end, but decided to do it at the beginning, which would mean I would end the run as I came back into the village and wouldn’t have to run past my house!

It was fairly quiet as I headed out of the village. I didn’t have any real trouble keeping in Zone 3 today; I’m pretty sure I could do it now without my watch to guide me. I ran along the segment up to the infamous Deadend Track, smiling as I am the Local Legend for that segment on Strava (which just means I’ve run it the most times!). I turn along the single track road where I sometimes meet the man with the barking dog. The dog wants to attack me, and it’s not fun running past it. I see that there is a man with a dog up ahead and I freeze momentarily, but it is a different man with a different dog and we greet each other as we pass.

Turning out onto the main road back into the village, there is traffic now and I’m up to 7 km. I feel great and I am enjoying the run, there is little effort involved. I start to encroach into Zone 4, so back off a little. I reach 10K and see that I’ve run for 1 hr 34 minutes and decide to stop. A lovely run! πŸ₯°

Morning Jools and well done for another 10K πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Glad it’s a different dog this time 🀣

I just came back from my 10K run (different route again just me and the sheep’s πŸ‘πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) and to be honest I was thinking πŸ’ of you doing your best to get the Saturday 10K πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Well done again and get the porridge down to get your energy back πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Are you Porridge with milk or water πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

Hi Jools, so brilliant that you’re doing 10k and even without feeling breathless at the end! πŸ‘ I have been very much enjoying your posts - Thankyou! The way you describe your process has been inspiring me. I’m not very competitive at all, so less bothered by speed, and more motivated by the endurance aspect, so, as you describe, I too am enjoying the longer runs. Loving your photos too! Have a great weekend.

Thank you. I love that I’ve inspired you! πŸ₯° I’m afraid I can be competitive, I have to fight it! I do work on my pace, too, on one of my runs.

Have a great weekend yourself πŸ‘

Thanks, Chrissie! Running slowly has made so much difference to my running. Loved the porridge, but I do get hungry after my long runs, so had a bacon buttie for lunch! Very satisfying πŸ˜€
