After Tuesday's less than comfortable experience, yesterday I went back to the morning run and decided to take it slow and steady. Double incentive as I had my work medical yesterday!
I did the first kilometre on grass rather than tarmac which helped slow me down a bit, also mixing things up a bit to keep it interesting. I was probably also a bit more conscious of foot placement (especially once I spied a couple of mole hills!) and stride length was also a bit shorter. First one came in at 6.50, then after about 1.2k I picked up my more usual route on the footpaths round the country park. I think the uneven surface helped loosen things up a bit somehow, I felt like I got into my stride after this, and it certainly seemed a sight easier going than Tuesday's 4k!
No recalcitrant dog owners or 3 abreast families at 7.30am, quite a few other runners round, and on my final kilometre I was accompanied by an inquisitive squirrel who kept scampering off ahead of me, stopping to watch me go by, then running off again!
Tuesday's run knocked me back a bit, but yesterday put me back on track, and tomorrow will be the second 8k. Might start off on the rougher path again tomorrow as it seemed to work...!
