So far, I have only had Saucony shoes – the model for people who overpronate, - guide 10 previously & currently guide 13. They are very comfy, but my toe starts going through the upper in under 6 months - seems a bit quick maybe?? I would be interested to know if anyone, who has had a similar experience with Saucony, has found a shoe more durable, but equally comfy?
Many thanks 😄

I wear Saucony Elfe and am on my fourth pair atm although mine are neutral. I’ve never had this problem but perhaps you need a bigger size. I always go a full size up from my everyday shoes. I use to wear Brooks and Nike when I thought I was an over-pronater but buying running shoes is very much a “try it on and see” sort of experience.
Have you had a gait analysis recently? That’s probably your best option even if you’ve had one before, it’s always a good idea to get checked regularly in case your gait has changed in any way. I hope you get it sorted 🙂
Thanks for this. Yes I had gait analysis for the second time last December & increased the size then - if anything they are a bit big, I need to wear two pairs of socks. It’s interesting that you don’t have this bother, I had wondered if it was the brand. Maybe I have vicious toenails 😂 - although it never happens with normal shoes. 😄
Thanks for this IP, it’s interesting reading. I had been told that Saucony don’t do half sizes, but it would appear online that they do! Pair 1, were too small, pair 2, too big so you know where I’m heading...😄
Apparently this is quite common, according to our Independent running shop and has more to do with your toe than the shoes. The same thing happens to UpTheStanley with Mizuno, and I have been known to darn them. Our shop offers a service of having a patch added to the inside of your shoe when you buy them to make them last longer.
Toe patches- great idea!😄 - Also the darning - I can do that! I will ask if our local shop do patches - or maybe do it myself with a bicycle repair kit 🤔. I have only had this problem with running shoes, but maybe the gait correction makes a toenail angle difference. Many thanks. 😄
Happens with my Roclites. Two pairs. I’ve repaired them by darning. After reading the above I might try a bit of duct tape on the inside. Not sure what I’m doing to cause it.
Hi. My son and daughter have both had this problem with Saucony. I heavily over pronate following a badly broken leg and ankle many years ago which means I have a plate and pins in my leg. I can only wear Mizuno Wave to correct the over pronation. They are amazing. I wish I could wear them all day. They would probably feel heavier to begin with but I know that I wouldn't be able to run without their amazing ankle support. Hope this helps.
Oddly, I had this experience with Brooks but my Saucony Guides have lasted and lasted. But I went up 1.5 sizes when I bought the guides. I've since gone back to Brooks in the larger size and had no problems.
