7k this morning but OH!! What a struggle!!

I was probably a bit silly as I had my flu jab yesterday morning and by 4pm I was yawning my head off.. didn’t feel poorly just really tired and so I managed to get to bed by 10, read for 10 mins and then put the light out. And was instantly wide awake again. I could hear neighbours tv, then people starting up their cars and driving off to god knows where at gone 11 at night, and then the skateboarders were back for a while until someone suggested they “ move along please” or something like that.then I was just going off and my lively son fell in the front door, chuckling drunkenly to himself before “ tiptoeing quietly” up the stairs and hiccuping loudly for the next hour till he fell asleep. So... it must have been about 12.30 when I finally dropped off and woke again at 6.50!!! Why??? I have no need to get up that early!!

So I got up just after 7 and out my running gear on and then faffed until 8 🙄and I set off. Again Beautiful and crisp morning but very sunny too and I remembered my shades this time. I was j tending to do the 5k run for this week but then realised I was a fair bit slower than lately so I decided to just plod on and make it 7k today.

I ran towards my daughters end of town and then up the back of the shops and her street towards the park school and then down over to the Park, along the Riverside and back across the Industrial estate and towards home again. Finished for up with a longer cool down walk than usual as I felt I needed it. Strangely enough although I felt like I was absolutely cr*p as I ran up the slope and then down to the park again I actually ran a PB along that section so maybe that’s why it felt hard work.

Then I got home and cooked Bacon and eggs for myself and my son and did a load of washing and then showered and now I am absolutely cream crackers!!

But I’ve done my run ( in my lovely dragon scale capris) and now I can relax for the rest of the day (in my Midnight Moth leggings) and do sod all.

Love this! You sure must be exhausted now!! Great though because lots of times our prep can be affected via so many things but we need to run and you did that today! The PB in that section came from somewhere too 🎽

I am still exhausted but just about to have my roast dinner now so hopefully that’ll perk me up.

Haha well I ate my roast, which was yummy.. and then cuddled up on the settee with a large warm tabby cat.... and woke up an half hour later when my daughter popped round. Feel a bit better now. Think it’s maybe post flu jab ...

Love this post, I can picture your son trying to be quiet after one too many 😂

Felt exhausted for you and so impressed with what you achieved ! Loving the leggings!

Thankyou. Feel a bit better this morning after a nap yesterday and a good sleep today. I have several new pairs of leggings ( courtesy of my daughter) and maybe a couple of pairs I’ve bought too 🙄. Can’t wait to wear my Halloween ones!! 🤣🤣

Well I have to say that sounds a great day! I had to smile reading your description of your son arriving home! I have 3 kids and never slept soundly until I knew they were safely home - whatever their state! Those days are past and now my ears are listening in case any of the granddaughters we look after on a regular basis wake in the night. I must confess I’ve had to have been wakened by the eldest when the wee one cries occasionally. Sleeping sounder or just getting deaf? 🤷‍♀️🤣. Loving the leggings again. Good run too

I sleep very lightly- always have - even when IVE has a skinful. 🤣 I hear every little noise and murmur and as I’m always so hot and have a window open at night all year round too that doesn’t help. Leggings are gorgeous aren’t they. Midnight Moth they are called ( my daughter calls me Moth).

EDIT: these aren’t Midnight Moth they are Dragon Scales

Oh I love the story behind your leggings. I may need to buy some bright ones - I once threw out some boring shoes as a tv program suggested it made you look old!! Who me?! Only on the outside!! 🤣

Well we started with Lucy Lockets ( but they are expensive -although lovely and do have a pocket in the back waist and big enough for an iPhone 7 or 8.

Then my daughter found Be Your Happy Place, Kizzy and Kukubird and they are alll fabulous. Soft, comfy and great patterns ( and at average £12 a pair and some as cheap as £5.99... it would be rude not to buy several)

Thank you - I’ll look younger when I run really soon 😆

Well I spent years of my mum telling me “ no ones going to stop their horse galloping to look at you” then my ex when I’d get ready to go out saying “ you’re wearing that are you? Oh ok then” and I had no confidence at all in myself even though I look back at photos and I had a great figure and looked really good. My daughter tells me I’m gorgeous all the time bless her!!

So now that I am divorced for the 2nd time, mums not around to put me down anymore, and I don’t have to wear a horrible uniform for work as I’m retired... I’ll wear what the hell I want. In as bright colours as I want. ( mum used to tell me I couldn’t wear red or yellow as my hair was auburn.).

Oh I’m glad you found your confidence albeit later than you should. I love that there are not the ‘rules’ our mothers used to spout at us! Don’t wear red and green?! My mum wasn’t trying to be mean but still gave out ‘advice’ to the end!! 😆 She was convinced I started running to lose weight (I’m happy at size 12!!) and noticed my haircut once - but said she hated it! All things I’m storing away so that I don’t repeat them. 🤷‍♀️

My youngest sister is like that. She has no filter and just says what comes into her head. Her hair is really thick bushy and like horsehair and I would never dream of saying so to her as I know she is very self conscious but when I decided to be blonde for a while when I was starting to go grey ( I’m now silver and happy with it) and I had a bob haircut, she came into work to see me ( and get my discount on 4 iPads and an expensive camera for Xmas presents) and as I was putting the sale through she looked up and said “ I’m not sure I like your hair like that .. you look like Jimmy Saville”!!!!!

That was probably 8 years ago now and I have never forgotten it. It made me feel dreadful and I can’t see how she thought I’d feel especially as I was in work and couldn’t tell her how I really felt about that comment.

Now recently during lockdown she was saying she was desperate to get her hair cut and sent me a pic. She still dyes her hair dark and I thought she looked like Professor Snape ( Harry Potter films) but I still wouldnt dream of saying that to her. Why is it some people just say hurtful things without thinking? Or do they think and just say it anyway?

Oh dear - family, who’d have them! At least your daughter had got the right idea. I tell my grandchildren “if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything “. I hope just writhing this down has been cathartic 🤞🏻but I know we hold onto things like this.

Brilliant limberlou! A lovely description of your day and night - the thought of someone asking people to ‘move along please’ late at night made me laugh out loud! I suspect there were other words used! But you survived and did your run - I hope you enjoyed the rest of your day!

limberlouGraduate10

I might not have reported that verbatim... 🙄

I had a little nap later cuddling my cat and felt a bit better

Well done Limberlou!

Love your post...you’re doing great! Hearing your story you are great!

Love your stories. I miss my boy...he’s in Oz. I’d gladly have him home top toeing in late. Not to be sadly. BUT...GIRL...love the leggings and the colour coordinated shoes. You are a fashionista extraordinaire. Go you!!! But remember, if you need to, put your rocking roll feet up and be kind to you. You double deserve it after those skateboarding twits!

Thankyou!! I’ve just come home from town and been greeted by 4, obviously starving, cats. I’ve only been gone 2 hours!!!! So spoilt!!! When I was working they used to be fed at 7.45, before I left and 4.45, when I got home and that was it!!!now they think every time I go for a run and come back, or a walk and come back it must be another mealtime!!!

Not what you're looking for?
