Just realised yesterday post didn’t post for some reason. 🙄

Anyway I hadn’t run since Saturday due to having had chest pains since Thursday last and them not “ going away after a good stretch”. After being in considerable discomfort on Sunday I made an apt with my Dr and saw her early Tuesday morning. Still aching, no I hadn’t lifted heavy things, or done lots of press-ups/planks/ weights 🤣🤣🤣🤣, Id just woken up like it last Thursday morning. As I had had full bloods done 2 weeks ago because of dizzy spells and BP check too she said that was all fine. So she checked O2 saturation and temp, and listened to my chest and then said it was “ Intercostal Muscle Strain”.

I have very hyper mobile joints and had done side stretches with raised arm in Pilates on Tuesday night, which felt good at the time but was probably the cause now I think about it. Anyway once I knew ( and also knew that it wasn’t Angina - like Dad- I felt better). So with the ok from Dr Smit to run ...I was all set.

So up I got yesterday morning and off I went into a beautiful morning... my fav kind of running morning .. dry, crisp and cool, but sunny towards the end too which made me wish I worn my shades but still a lovely run. It seemed fairly easy going , I felt strong and although I could feel my chest pulling a little when I was breathing deeply it wasn’t too painful. I trotted round one of my usual routes, across to the river, alongside it to the industrial estate and back along the road towards town and home. I wasn’t going to push it so I’d decided to do the short run of week 2 of the Magic Plan but then couldn’t remember if it was 3 or 3.5k so did the latter to make sure. And I was pleased to see when I got home again that my times are still at the faster pace I’ve run lately so that was good too. @7:58 min/km. I’m sure it’s partially to do with changing my running soundtrack and partially because of my new leggings 🤣🤣.

Then after I had showered and eaten I noticed my dopey boy cat, Loki, was just sitting in front of me gazing at me gormlessly. “What’s up mate?” I asked and he just sat there. Then I noticed his tail was sorted of folded oddly behind him. Now Loki is very proud of his tail. It’s quite thick and muscular and when I stroke him, usually as my hand gets near his rump, he sort of raises his back legs up on tiptoes and then his tail goes up and it stretches so much that it goes up over his back and touches the back of his head and the more I stroke him the more he does this. So yesterday when I did it the tail just moved slightly and hung down like a fox brush ☹️😢. “ oh no!! What have you done now?”.

Those of you who remember the saga of Loki and the poorly leg will know why I panicked!! So I rang the vet, they squeezed us in with an appointment at another of their branches as they were full that day, which actually is nearer, but not till 5, so I had to endure his reproachful look for another few hours. “ Please fix my tail, mum 😢”. Strangely he’d come in the previous night and decided to get up beside me and curl up to sleep in my crochet bag. Most inconvenient as I was changing colours and had to grope under him but gave up eventually as he had no intention of moving. And he was still asleep in it when I left for my run, so I wondered if he’d maybe hurt it the night before and got in the bag to feel safe. Of course it’s not as though I’ve got 4 lovely big cats beds with fleecy covered padded handmade cushions in, that he could have slept in..... oh I’ve just looked up now and he IS in one of them today!!!

Anyway vet said it’s not broken, no obvious bite wound, no temperature, tail is still nice and warm but tender near the rump, legs are working fine so he’s either got it caught in something and pulled and hurt it that way or maybe something dropped on it. So anti inflammatory jab, Loxicam on his breakfast for a few days, and he is already lifting it about horizontal so that’s a great improvement already. It’s not slowed him down at all as when I got up this morning and pulled my curtains I noticed him in his “ nest” in the top of the hedge outside.

Never a dull moment in my house!!

Happy running guys 🤣🏃‍♀️💪😿😸

Interesting leggings. 😺

I'm also relatively hypermobile. I gross-out people by folding my thumb behind the back of my hand. 😉

I love your leggings collection limberlou! Think you made the sensible decision to contact the doc about your chest pain and I’m glad you’ve got the OK to get back out there! And as for poor Loki, what a rotten time he’s having! Glad his leg seems better now - I hope his tail is likewise very soon!
