Stepping Stones No 2!

What was diff’t from 1st time: I used a more level route. I wanted to use Ensō with the gorgeous gong to give me a halfway bell 🛎 to note when to turn back.

What worked well👍🏼: easier (a tiny wee bit) and I have a feeling that if I do this podcast a few more times, than I might just be able to hit that beat consistently. It was nearly doable.

What didn’t work well👎🏼: I set up my Ensō bell wrongly and I turned around 1-2min early. Not much, one would think, but it meant I had to struggle to hit 160 bpm at the end of the run on a well housed street 🏠 🏡 🏠🏠🏠with plenty of school children walking to school 🚶‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏿‍♂️🚶🏿‍♀️🚶‍♂️(and WATCHING!!!!). The horror! 😱🤪😅

I seem to also be hitting the first beat of the bar only every two bars. 🎶 Not sure how this works, 7 in 8? And I feel my body/legs want to give the first down beat extra accent, e.g. lengthier stomp which I then have to catch up.

Music... hm. Focussing on the beat helps. And I do like running to the beat so all that makes the music sufferable.

My stats tell me I haven’t sped up (yet), but I can see how I might if I do this a few times more.

You’re getting there, I’m sure you’ll soon speed up.

Oh gosh I know the I’ll just pop oout for a little run, no one will... oh wait a sec... everyone is walking to school and I have to try ans overtake on a hill... and obviously not look totally out if breath etx. Well done!

🤣🤣yeah, I know that feeling. The school children is a new one, as I started running during lockdown.

But occasionally all dog walkers in my neighbourhood seem to get that signal, all of them walking in that 30 min which are supposed to be reserved (!!!) for my run!!

(Naaahh, I actually like encountering them. I’m just still a bit self-conscious)

They clearly didn’t get the clear the road memo. Tbh no one cares what you do and at worse they feel bad for not doing it themselves

No idea what any of that means as I've never done Stepping Stones. Well done though on chalking another one off ✅

🤣🤣 thank you... but isn’t Stepping Stones a rite of passage for C25k and B210k community? Or maybe an initiation to the more crazier worlds of running? Or was that fartleks? 🤣🤣 Also, thank you! 🙏😊

Sounds like you had fun CBDB!! 🤗 And you didn’t step on the kids, so it’s all good.

I’ve done the ‘school run’ before (by accident...aka...lack of thought! Running past the secondary school in the morning? 🤪😳). Let’s just say it was a test of my ability to zone out and try to look as though I was a professional coming through the crowd...as quickly as humanly possible! 🤣🤣

Well done you!! ❤️

Hey CBDB, very well done- & extra points for looking cool amid the school kids!! 😄

I too have just started using Steppingstones recently- “nearly doable“ is exactly right!😂 I’m sure in a month or two it will have improved for us both! We can celebrate together when we reach “doable”!! 😄

Definitely. I’m thinking of ‘celebrating’ with a notch bracelets and “Surviving C25k+” will sit directly besides “C25k” 🤣🤣

Yes, but seriously, I am strangely enjoying these little explorations of what my legs and mind can achieve!

So let’s make that “nearly” disappear!

Well done for getting on with C25k+. I do believe our running will be better for it!

😂😂

... I have a feeling that running will be a whole series of trying to make “nearly” disappear!
