Just in case you were wondering ( I hope so π) Iβve been lost down a rabbit hole in Week 5 of JuJuβs magic plan for a few weeks now. I switched to the time plan at the end of week 4 as I felt the distance would extend the time I was running too much, too quickly. So I started the time plan Week 5 on August 14th, had a few problems with knees, health problems, life! all of which saw my mood plummet. Iβve now done runs 1 &2 of Week 5 twice and tomorrow am planning to run Run 3 very slowly on a new route and hopefully move on to Week 6.
Itβs not all bad news though as whilst down the rabbit hole I bought some MPOW Bluetooth earphones (I think thanks to SueAppleRun for the recommendation) and wow, they are fab, and running with music after 7 months of naked running and a noisy brain has been a revelation. I love it π π§ πΆ
Yesterday I left LE and am on my way. I am looking forward to 874 miles worth of music I can listen as we wend our way North. Great to have some company here for this challenge and who knows some real life company for some of the miles along the way.
So great things are on the up jorgeRuns. I love music when running and bluetooth earphones are brilliant and so much better than the wired ones. Good luck with your LEJOG challenge. π
Great to hear you're back up and running. The headphones sound great and you can really hear the sense of freedom and enjoyment they've given already and the of the potential they offer you. All the best with the journey, we will all meet at the finish line π
Hi GTFC π hmmm... well... I still haven't run yet (approaching 2 weeks). I'm doing all my strengthening exercises, single leg calf raises with over 2 stone in weight in my rucksack is fun π€£. Initially they had me in quite a bit of pain for 24hrs afterwards but it all seems to be settling down a bit so finger's crossed... π€
Blimey that is good going! You're doing all you can to get back strong and safe. I know it's frustrating but when you get out there again you'll be confident that all the rehab you could do, you did! See you on the other side π
Hurray! Good for you! Didnβt brave the rain today so have 8k to do tomorrow . I bought some new earphones too and much prefer to naked running. Look forward to running with you in Lejog5. Have fun and look after your knee.
Thanks Timotea, old knees with recent fall so I am keeping a close eye, Id rather slow down, run less and still be walking at the end of the day, so far it seems to be working. I can see you on the map, great to have some company and yes, thank goodness for the music π€

I have found you on the map π. You are storming away in front!
"Wait for me!" indeed !!
It should be "Catch me if you can!" π€£

π€£π€£ a year is a long time, I think weβll be changing places as we go along, π...the Winter months will be interesting π€
Your battling and resilience will see you go far, both mentally and physically π

Thank you, hope youβre right GTFC, I know you are always so encouraging and positive but I donβt always find it so easy when health issues get in the way of my goals and its hard not moving forward at all for weeks at a time. Hopefully tomorrow will help.
Enjoy running with music, yes it was us that recommended them, we started running with one each so we could share the app and music, but once we graduated we bought another pair and run to different music sometimes, today we both had Cold Play though and ran close together at the same pace, I generally prefer rock though and it makes me a bit faster, Cold Play gave us a very gentle 5k today and that was good
I thought so, really good value for the price, thank you. That sounds great, I know what you mean about rock, I put on something from Spotify called βRuntimeβ the first time and it was very uplifting. π€
Yay! Another fanfare please for the wonderful Mrs Jorge as she sets off boldly from LE to JOG. I wish I could join you it just sounds like great fun. Enjoy the headphones - I got some aftershokz (bluetooth) ones and love them. Sometimes I still do some naked running but I do love the music.
I think that was a good move switching over to the time version of the MP. I felt exactly the same about the distance version. But you can do what a few of us did and once you hit the 60 mins, you can enjoy a new badge while switching over to the distance version.
Looking forwards to hearing of your progress through the country. Pop in when you get to Scotland!
Thanks very much Fionamags, maybe I will get to run some of my LEJOG miles in Scotland next Spring as weβve been planning to come up there for a holiday, maybe Parkrun will be going again and weβll get to run alongside some of our VRBβs. in different parts of the country.
Iβm just taking my time now and trying to just enjoy my runs, with no pressure. I hit the 60 mins end of week 3 as it took nearly that long to reach the 7k so I realised at the end of week 4 I would need more time to get to 10k. I finally finished Week 5 today but might take more than 3 more weeks to finish the plan.
I hope youβre recovering from your injury well, beginning to make some progress and will be continuing along the bridge with us all very soon π€
Wouldn't it be lovely if a few of us could meet up to do a park run together? I'd definitely be up for that.
I didn't notice that you already had the badge - I probably congratulated you on it as well.... but yes, that was a steep shift to 60 mins!
I'm just taking it very slowly and gently at the moment. I need to build up the muscles to support the long runs or I'll do proper damage. I got away with mild injuries but I think the old glutes cd be most unpleasant if I don't pay them some attention. I've discovered marching bridges are a thing π€£π€£π€£
Definitely on my bucket list now Fionamags, Iβm looking forward to planning my holidays around where I want to run now, and becoming a Parkrun tourist. π
I take it the marching bridge is an exercise π€ π€£ . I can do a static bridge and a one legged bridge but never tried a marching one π€£πββοΈπ€ΈββοΈ Slow and gentle sounds just right for a happy crossing π€
