RunLEJOG and the losing-of-miles story ๐Ÿคฏ

Well, I managed to survive the Stepping Stone Podcast early this morning ๐ŸŒ… and yes, I sneaked out at 6:30 am โฐ , as I wasnโ€™t quite sure how embarrassing it would get! ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€

But finally after โ€˜returningโ€™ from work (so much in todayโ€™s world has become a virtual experience ๐Ÿ’ป ), I looked at RUNLEJOG, and something had definitely gone very virtually WRONG!!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ‘ป

I had fleetingly glimpsed an email from LeJog updating me on newest map ๐Ÿ—บ versions and logs, but also suggesting that the position of runners on the map might change! ๐Ÿ˜ต

So what happened?

Well, story is that once I had run all the way to St Yves Bay๐Ÿ– ๐Ÿง๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ, and whilst taking a picture ๐Ÿ“ธ of that bucket of blood ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿฉธ pub sign, I was tempted to go inside. Yes, my friends, I did go into this notorious pub and just about lived to tell the tale. Finding myself with a group of fellow (by now very drunk) runners ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ , we all decided to take a bus ๐ŸšŒ to skip a few miles ahead. But unbeknownst to us, the bus took us all the way back to Penzance!

And that is where I am now ... again! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ค Let that be a lesson! A virtual running lesson! And a lesson to not get drunk, even virtually! ๐Ÿท ๐Ÿธ ๐Ÿน

Anyway, Iโ€™m sure the team at RUNLEJOG has been working hard behind the scenes, but to lose a whole chunk of the Cornish peninsula to an update (or my virtual booze), was a bit devastating.

Never mind. There was a story to be found in there. And my run in the morning back โ€˜at the farmโ€™ was a whole exciting story all onto itself!

Happy running everyone!

I found that I have also gone backwards. Apparently the GPS has been updated so the map is more accurate!!

I have just googled how far from Lands End to Bolventor which is 68 miles following the A30. I overnighted at Jamaica Inn in Bolventor at the weekend and should be nearly in Launceston (I have done 78 miles), however the map shows that I am near Temple, somehow I have gone backwards by 20 miles. I don't understand how this has happened, but never mind I'll keep going.

I think something spooky happened at Jamaica Inn and Cornwall somehow lengthened.

I would be interested to know if this has happened to others as well.

Happy running

Oh the ghosts ๐Ÿ‘ป in Cornwall. Itโ€™s not enough to have to deal with all the gremlins, now itโ€™s ghosts stealing our miles as well!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

The pesky ghosts and gremlins. What us runners have to deal with!!!!

in reply to CBDB

Ooh you have to watch those Cornish ghosts!!! Being Celtic makes them very mischievous and tricky indeed! Sounds like theyโ€™ve definitely been playing their tricks on you!

if you know which date was lost you should be able to enter it again. Then you will skip forward your missing 7 miles

CBDB profile image
CBDBGraduate10 in reply to RunaroundSue

I fear nothing has been lost and the mileage is the same. Just my place on the map has changed! ๐Ÿ˜”

EThomas profile image
EThomasGraduate10 in reply to RunaroundSue

I'm also keeping a separate track of my mileage, which matches LEJOG. Like CBDB it is my position on the map that has changed.

OMG!! What? Can you re-submit and upload, if you have your stats. I checked mine and a couple were missing.

You went in to the Bucket of Blood?...๐Ÿ˜ฒ! I told you Iโ€™d get us a bottle of something from the Premier shop up the road๐Ÿ’ฐ.

But...seriously, if youโ€™ve got your data, it might be painstaking but Iโ€™d resubmit for each day. In saying that, I had better check where I am. I might have got on that bus and be back at Lands End ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿ™ƒโค๏ธ!

CBDB profile image
CBDBGraduate10 in reply to Fabulous450

Yes, yes, yes, you did tell me. ๐Ÿ˜”

But for all I know, you might have been on the bus with me ๐ŸšŒ! And probably with your inseparable Mr Garmin! I was so absent that I couldnโ€™t recognise anyone! ๐Ÿ™ˆ For all I know Jeff might have been there as well, coasting. Or was it gliding? ๐Ÿค”

I managed to get out at a stop in Penzance, but yes youโ€™re right, it went on to Landโ€™s End and further๐Ÿ—ฝ๐Ÿฐ ๐Ÿš€ .

So the mystery continues ๐Ÿง, who were the other runners still on that bus!

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ! I missed the bus going south. I just checked the recycling box and The Premier Shop wine was low alcohol too ๐Ÿคซ.

Mr Garmin is a proper Sergeant Major and keeps telling me to โ€˜moveโ€™ all day long ๐Ÿ™„. Iโ€™d have no chance to sit down on that bus, I can tell you! I have met my step goals for the past 2 days now though. Resistance is futile. Thereโ€™s well over 700 people ahead of me too โ˜บ๏ธ and Jeff would have given me a serious telling off if he had to have extra gliding sessions with me ๐Ÿคซ.

We should write a book. The wonderful adventures of LEJOG4! ๐Ÿคฉ

Iโ€™m sure it can be sorted though CBDB! ๐Ÿค—โค๏ธ

It might just be the map, but there is a new link to see all of your entries. Icon at top right corner on.the LeJog3 (our map page has changed several times so it occurs to me that the layout may be different on the other LeJogs)

Anyway my map mileage matches my spreadsheet mileage

CBDBGraduate10 in reply to RunaroundSue

Yes, although I have to admit I liked the google xls spreadsheet. I could more easily spy ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ on others ๐Ÿ˜‰.

My mileage remains spot on. Sadly I've run nowhere the last 4 days down to an insect bite. Tomorrow maybe. ๐Ÿ˜–

Oh dear, hope the bite goes down soon. Hydrocortisone cream always helps me

Maybe I ran backwards? I knew I was slow but that slow??? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

in reply to CBDB

Hilarious ๐Ÿ˜‚ . I love this thread!! I better log mine and see if Iโ€™ve been scuppered by Cornish imps too ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Lejog is for running or walking, by getting on a bus perhaps someone thinks or thought that you were, dare I say it "cheating" then sent you back to the start at Penzance.

CBDB profile image
CBDBGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

Yes, that must have been it.๐Ÿ˜ฃ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜ž... ๐Ÿ˜‚

But what if they were all running on the spot on the bus? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Cmoi

If you look at that cartoon at the top of the post the word cheating is there, anyone getting on a bus or train for part of LeJog from now on should be eliminated from the journey and 'sent home' in disgrace.

My first day mileage had disappeared altogether which was disconcerting, went back and added it again and all seems well this morning. I have been streetviewing my way up the A30 - does give me a taste for doing some real exploration runs one day.

๐Ÿค” disappearing mileage. . . Or was it a bus ride? ๐Ÿ˜‰

LEJOG sounds like a whole lot of fun, or maybe itโ€™s just the people doing it on here are having lots of fun.

Watch out for distractions in Bristol . When I did the Great Bristol 10k, Mr Garmin had me climbing to the top of the Clifton Suspension Bridge and running on water.

Keep having fun folks and keep telling us all about it.
