Black toenail? Say bye bye to it 🤣 Unless you’re very lucky.

Expect it to grow out and fall off in a few weeks. There’ll be a new one growing underneath. Pretty standard for runners. Get shoes with more toe room and use lock lace technique to stop your foot from slipping forward. Once I lost 5 after a trail run in poor fitting shoes 🤣

A few weeks?? Lucky you!! I usually get mine through hockey rather than running. Hockey ball on big toe leads to bleed at the base of the nail which then works its way up the toe over the next 12 months or so as the nail grows out. As you say, if it's a big one a new nail grows underneath.

I’ve had many a black toenail, never any pain, and that’s even with roomy toe boxes in my trainers. I have one now actually, and it’s just part of me being a runner. I must say I’ve never tried the lock lace technique, so thanks Tasha99 , I’ll give it a go!

Sometimes the nails fall off quickly, other times they cling on for weeks, but there’s always a shiny new one underneath!

Join the club! 😅

It’s good as you can get the laces fairly tight around your ankle but still leave them looser on your foot 👍🏽
