Another First!

I wasn't feeling very confident about running today having slept badly for several days and done way too much gardening resulting in aching muscles.

But at 6am the weather was perfect breezy, sunny but feeling cool so off I went.

Today's run was a 30 minutes one and once the uncomfortable first 10 minutes had gone I felt surprisingly good. I settled into a fairly regular pace with less interruptions from my watch today.

I was approaching a crossroads of paths and could see a group of men and dogs obviously stopped for a chat. I negotiated my way passed them and through the cycle barriers on both sides of the track with a cheery "morning all" to them. Then set off again up the slight slope only to suddenly find myself lying face down on the track ☹️ Of all the places to trip it would be right in front of a group of people! They were very good immediately asking if I was OK, as I lay there on the path 🤣I was apart from being covered in dust and having a grazed palm - probably the first since school and will have some great bruises on my knees.

I knew sooner or later I'd end up in a heap on the floor so at least I've broken through that barrier 😊 But I was determined to keep going so I walked for a bit then carried on running to complete my 30 minutes covering 3.78k.

Home for a bath and cover my knees in comfrey ointment 😊

Happy and trip free running everyone x

Great run and great recovery from your fall, nothing for it but get up and carry on. Well done, glad nothing damaged. Happy running 🤗

I was rather pleased with myself for carrying on till the end 😊

Like you say at least you've got your fall out if the way ( I was going to say done and dusted) 🤣

But we runners are made of strong stuff which shows as after the fall you got back up to finish your run. I hope you're not too sore. 😊👍

🤣😂 Love it "done and dusted" I couldn't believe just how dusty it was!

Oh dear dijep, hope you are feeling better after your bath?

I have never heard of comfrey ointment but it sounds so comforting; I hope it's working its magic and helping your knees feel better. I have avoided a full tumble so far, but have come close a couple of times (usually when blowing my nose, so I stop now!). Well done for picking yourself up and soldiering on ☺️.

I had just stopped a few seconds before to blow my nose! I think I need to learn to pick my feet up more. Running always seems to make my nose run.

Comfrey ointment is supposed to reduce inflammation and reduce bruising. I had an Aunt who swore by it and I always give it a go. My Mum even used it on a Hamster once that has fallen off a table.

Oh, I should feel sorry for the hamster, but that made me laugh 🐹😉 x

The Hamster was fine cured by the Comfrey.... according to my Mum 😊

Thankyou Willow andSola

oooo dijep, ouch, just when you settled in and we’re enjoying your run.. Take good care of those knees for a while,, I was advised by my physio not to run until my bruises were healed when I fell in May. That Comfrey treatment sounds very good, ( love the bit about your mum and the hamster 🤣) ...maybe add some crushed ice and put your feet up later.

Very good to hear you were ok to carry on, adrenaline certainly helps after the shock (and embarrassment ) of a fall. You did so well to complete your run and cover that distance.

Lovely photo, take it easy, big hugs 🤗 🤗

Thanks for the 🤗 JorgeRuns they're appreciated x. The only trouble with the Comfrey is it's very greasy so I can only wear shorts at the moment. Feet are up by the way now watching rubbish on my laptop!

I impressed myself by not jumping up immediately I stayed put for a bit till I knew I was OK. Once up I was more concerned that I hadn't ruined my Ronhill leggins which I love 😍

in reply to dijep

glad to hear the feet are up ...good progress there dijep with not leaping straight up, hope your leggings come out of the wash unscathed 😚

Oops - that was embarassing! But you rose above it and carried on. Good for you! Hope your knees aren't too bruised.
