Another evening down the beach

After my minor success the other week, I thought I’d have another go at running on sand, so Merlin and I headed off to meet up with some Canicross friends and then let them whizz off up the beach without us. Poor Merlin, still it gives him something to chase 🙂

He wasn’t quite as focussed this evening, though that was probably my fault as no sooner had we started than I had to stop to shake a whole load of tiny pebbles out of my shoes, not once, not twice, but Four times 🤦‍♀️ before I managed to get rid of them all. I ended up running with a soaking wet bum!

The kite surfers were out in force again this evening, I wish I could have for a decent picture of them with my phone, but they all came out like teeny tiny fly specks.

Soon after we’d passed the kite surfers, I let Merlin off to run free, which I’m sure he appreciated. Though I could have done with harnessing him up again for the return trip as the wind was really strong. I hadn’t even noticed there was a wind when I was running in the same direction as it!

MapMyFitness says we did just over 4K in roughly 36 minutes which I’m happy with, though I think my thighs are going to feel it tomorrow; there were quite a few places where I put my foot down on what I thought was solid sand and it just kept on going down!

Wow, some of those intervals look very fast! Well done. I hope Merlin enjoyed himself too.

I could have done with the wind being a little less bracing - I couldn’t even hear the voice of MapMyFitness telling me when the next interval was 😆

What a jolly caper - so to speak. Great post and a really good run session x

Great job and some speedy intervals! I can’t imagine how hard it must be to run in the sand though!

This year is the most I’ve ever done 😀 Whenever I’ve tried before, my knees have just gone ‘No way!’

The bits that were really soft and like quicksand definitely added a certain ‘something’ 😆

It is certainly unnerving when you tread on soft sand! Sounds a great run 👍
