Early night last night, woke up 5:10am just before the alarm went off. Felt refreshed, plenty of energy, kit on laced up the Brooks and off I set, weather nice and cool. Decided to shuffle the playlist for a change as Iβm conscious of how far Iβve reached when certain tunes come on. 5 min warm up walk over start to run, good pace, breathing fine, no aches and pains....eventually reached the park where 5k ends...not much left in the tank, but managed to pick up the pace.....music fades....voice from the Fitbit says....5 kilometres in 29:55 ! .....29:55 !!!!!!! YEEEESSSSS Arms in the air jumping for joy, chap walking towards me must have thought I was nuts....but I didnβt care, itβs taken me weeks of trying but Iβve done it at last.....and Iβve felt great all day.....if youβve set yourself a target stick with it and youβll get there in the endππ
Footnote: Went out early this morning 5k in 30:24....knew I shouldnβt have stopped for a chat with that dog walker π

Thanks Buddy34, I was in my own little world, felt so thrilled I didnβt care who was watching to be honest, Iβm so used to hearing the time of thirty something!
Well done to you Couchphoenix on running your first sub 30 minute 5k, that's a dream for many of us on this and the C25K forum, certainly I know that I will never have a sub 30 minute 5k, but I am pleased that apart from one 5K, all my runs have been sub 35 minutes. π ππΎ
Thanks AlMorr, I didnβt think Iβd ever do it, but just kept chipping away and was very determined, everything just seemed to come together today. Early night definitely helped π
Thanks Grannyhugs, much appreciated, Happy Running to you too π
Fantastic Couchphoenix, too right, definitely worth jumping for joy, arms aloft, YESSSS , πππ I would π maybe the chap walking towards you thought, βWow what a happy chap, wish I could run like thatβ ... Iβm chasing that same dream, not giving up π π€
Stick with it jorgeRuns Iβm sure youβll get there soon, it was very workmanlike for some reason....I just got up and thought...right let get this thing done...and I just went for it πββοΈ
Thanks Mum22boys, it sounds a small thing to do, but you get conscious of where you normally are or should be when a certain tune comes on, so the shuffle stopped all that....I was shuffling myself on the way home π
Thanks PlymBorn....I think Iβll focus on increasing distance next, Iβve also downloaded the Nike Running Club app, which looks good, might give that a go.....also still got the Zombie running app, which Iβve tried once and found was really good fun.
ππββοΈππ¨π That is AMAZING news! Congratulations, if I had been there I would have jumped with my arms in the air with you! That is excellent! Fabulous! Well done. π
Bless you, yes much better now. It's as if it never happened! Going for a gait test on friday, DW Sports do them for free. Been doing strengthening exercises too. Going to attempt to go out again next week! Do you think I should start again or where I left off, do you think?
Brilliant! That is so great to hear - your post was jumping with joy as well. Congratulations - that is such a massive milestone. πππππππ₯³π
Thanks Jennyhare, it felt absolutely amazing, I surprised myself, everything just seemed to come together, no aches and pains, perfect weather etc π
Thank You HappyNoodle π if itβs any consolation when I graduated my 5k time was 37-38 mins so Iβm sure youβll get there, it gave me a goal following graduation, next one will be to increase distance.
wow. well done. Must be a great feeling. Im not there yet. 33.10 is my best yet. I still struggle for the 1st 3 or 4 minutes until my body gets used to running & I generally get quicker as the run goes on...
