I wasn’t planning on running today but woke up early and decided to go for it. I had quite a bad run a few weeks ago which included a fairly long (for me) and steep incline, I hadn’t revisited it as the flash backs were enough 😂 but today I thought ‘let’s do it!’
I set off with apprehension, trepidation, generally a feeling of dread 😩, took it nice and slow and gave myself different points to break the hill up on the way down ready for the return journey. The temperature was lovely and a very very gentle breeze made it the perfect weather condition for running, I distracted myself by looking at the field, cows 🐮, birds 🐦 and started on my return journey, I was feeling good and before I knew it I had passed the first landmark and could see the second, kept the control and passed the second, took it down a notch and could see the last marker, quite shocked at how different this felt compared to last time I sailed passed the final marker and had beaten my nemesis! I carried on for another 2kish and wiggled back home 🏡 on flat ground one very very happy runner 🏃🏻♀️😀
I’m not entirely sure what the moral of my story is but I guess what I’m trying to say is that if I can do it so can you, I really really was dreading it but with more runs under my belt since the awful one I have that much more experience and mental grit, and hopefully a bit more muscle and stamina 🤪.
I’m sure I’ll have other challenging runs to come but for now I’m proud of myself. Have a great Sunday all. 😀

Very well done on your hilly run. I too hated and avoided hills for my 1st 6 months then learnt to love them. You did the right thing, broke it down into sections, took it easy and carried on - phenomenal. Remember this run if you ever doubt your ability and dig hard. Happy running 🤗
When the determination pays off and yours did today. You're right you will have more challenging runs but now you know you CAN do it. You've got every right to be chuffed. Well done you 👏 👍
Wow! What an inspirational post for combating hills - well done! My highest elevation gain so far is 34 metres. I hope I have as much grit and determination as you when I come to anything greater. 🏋🏼♀️ 👏🏼 😁
