Hi Runners
Just got back from my Day 5 Move for Mind Challenge! Today I decided to try something that looked similar to Intervals, but boy....it was quite different! 😲
For those who haven’t tried it, it’s running at a “recovery pace” for 2 minutes, then at a “5k pace” for 1 minute. Now, that might seem ok, unless the way the “5k pace” is described is akin to your normal “recovery pace”. Effort, giving 7-8 out of 10 speed wise, for a snail, this isn’t a “5k pace”. 🤷🏽♀️....but hey ho! I can give 7-8 effort for 1 minute. 🤩 And I did.
21 minutes in total of alternating between “recovery” and “5k pace”, but without the lovely walking intervals. Mmmm...I did check my phone after 16 minutes, as I wasn’t sure if I could do it 😬! I had to dig in mentally for the last couple of gear changes after the dreaded look at how long I’d got left, but I got there. As soon as my coach said it’s the last one minute run at 5k pace (7-8 effort), I was a very happy runner!! Yes!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽! I will finish strong!😀
As much as I can say I enjoyed it (now it’s over 😁), it was challenging, but that’s probably the point isn’t it? Doh! 😳 I really like that these runs have a powerful impact in a shorter time. There’s a bit more grit needed, but that feels strangely good!! 🤔
It will be interesting to see if this style of running improves my stamina at my next Parkrun. Fabulous450 is having fun!! That’s just the bees knees right now!😉
I’m giving a special shout out to my graduation day VRB Chelsea007🤩, as I get a notification before 6am to say he’s out on a run. He’s been going out so early for weeks and those notifications have me cheering him on and thinking about planning for a run soon after I wake up now! The Cherub! 😆😍
All of you are so amazing and keep me going! 😘My other NRC VRB UnfitNoMore has also got my phone pinging constantly with running notifications too. 🤦🏽♀️ What’s a girl to do, but run!! 🏃🏽♀️ 🏃🏽♀️ 😂😂! 😍😍
Happy running Runners! ❤️
