I hope you’re all keeping fit and well, especially under the current circumstances.
After nearly 2 years of starting and stopping with relatively minor but nonetheless time-consuming injuries, I’m coming to the end of what must be my fifth or sixth run through the One You C25K NHS app with the lovely Laura.
It would be so good to find an equivalent app with motivational and encouraging comments through each stage. I mean I know Laura is just a recording but at least she doesn’t just robotically say, “start running“ and “stop running“.
Additional comments like, “you’ve got just a minute left now so keep going and push harder if you can…“, would be really helpful.
I’ve been through quite a few 5K to 10k apps and I don’t really fancy spending £10 a month or more for access to a real coach, although I’m sure it’s great value. I just can’t afford that sort of money as a commitment. I have too many others
Can anyone recommend a Laura-like coaching app to get me up to 10k?
Stay healthy everyone.
Thanks. Si

I don’t think you need a voice coach now. Get a running watch and then you can look at it and the voice in your head will say things to your inner self, like oooh you’re half way 🤣👍🏽
Consolidate running for 30 minutes for a few weeks. This is essential. Then you could consider bridge to ten k but no audio with that, just your own head!
If you join ju-ju’s Magic 10 plan, there’s no app/voice coach, but you can print the plan out and follow along week by week. It works. 😀
Best of all, you can post about your runs on here if you wish, plus read about other people’s journeys. I found it invaluable receiving (and ultimately giving) advice and I’ve formed lots of real life friendships in doing so, as we got chatting on the forum and met up at races and parkruns all over the country - pre Covid-19 of course.
I started C25k late Sept 2018 age 75. My aim was then to do 5k in under 30 mins.
Had a few set backs first half of 2019 and just settled into a regular 3 a week hoping to do the GNR 5k but booked a holiday by mistake. So just plodded on as there was 2020 next.
I had printed off juju's plan last year and finally started nearly 3 months ago. The aim being to build up to 60 mins first then do the 10km, which I did 2 weeks later. 1hr 21 mins avg 8mins per km.
If I can do it at 77 most runners should be able to.
I found out I dont need an app or any music, just my own thoughts and to go on how I feel on the day. Your body will talk to you.
