So I decided to go to the red ash running track where my running began. This 5k was for (not) parkrun. I gave it everything I had and it paid off, a 5k pb of 28.21.
It seems flat but the elevation chart looks like a Toblerone.
I'm not too keen on running round and round in circles but I hadn't ran there since Christmas day 2019, so its been a while . I'm glad I did.
Happy running all๐๐

Thanks, I've ran one before in June 2019 then had one at parkrun. After that just couldn't seem to do it again and was quite happy just getting the distances under my belt. But today felt really good ๐๐
Congratulations on getting that 28.21 PB at red ash running track where your running began, yes, that is your third sub 30 minute 5k which is excellent, a dream for me which will never happen.
This morning I went to Dunfermline and walked and ran a little around the parkrun course, (tomorrow is my not parkrun day) I met a runner who recognised me from other parkruns earlier this year, I ran with her the last 150 metres keeping just slightly ahead, she told me her 5K time this morning was about 28.30
Well done, great time. The benefit of tracks as far as Iโm concerned is you donโt have to pause for roads, styles, gates etc or probably other people, oh and Strava canโt misroute you, you know exactly how far a 5k is, otherwise Iโm not keen on circles either. Iโm fascinated by the altitude reading, you would assume tracks would be flat.
If its a standard 400 metres athletic track then to run 5000 metres or 5K which you see athletes on the television in the summer months running at around 13 minutes, you will have ran around the track 12 and a half times, 10K is 25 times around a standard 400 metre track.
Fantastic time! My current PB of 32:44 made me think one day I might get there but I need to find a flat (or at least gentle toblerone) course since my current course is uphill for the first 1km and I can't crack 7 minutes for it without ruining the rest of the run! Enjoy your weekend with that under your belt!
An amazing time Buddy, super impressed ๐ not quite sure how you cope with running round and round in a circle... but it obviously did the trick ๐
It must be good to have it as an option when you need it ๐
Well done Buddy ๐ฅณ. A fantastic 5k PB ๐. I love the Toblerone Bar graph ๐, very funny! I donโt know how you achieved that on a flat track! You are just going from strength to strength. Itโs fantastic ๐คฉ.
Congrats! I graduated from C25K two weeks ago and decided to run each Mon Wed Fri rather than every other day, going forward. Last week I too decided to go for a PB on my original route; the only route I ran whilst doing C25K.
I really struggled to beat my best time but Iโve realised that I run โquickerโ when I try not to!
In fact the best things come to me when I least think about them and yesterday I ran......10K!
I resisted actually buying one as I'd eat the lot ๐คฃ๐คฃ

Wowzers! What a time and a fast consistent pace. You are undoubtedly getting fitter and stronger and faster as well as having more stamina. Running has given you so much but goodness you have deserved it with a habit of running consistently in all weathers. I'm so chuffed for you!! You bloomin' deserve times and moments like this. Just wow! You are on fire!!!
Wow! Great start to the day Buddy!! Congrats on the pb ๐. It's so inspiring looking at those stats and gives me motivation to keep plugging on ...not that a sub 30 is close for me. Amazing job and that little aside that you ran home just mind-blowing ๐คฏ
Funny your run looking like a toblerone as after getting back from my long run I've just treated myself to 3 triangles...been ages since I've had one, I'd forgotten how yummy they are.
Maybe if you thought the route was flat, Garmin is actually instructing you to have a choccie bar ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Wow Buddy, you deserve a celebratory toblerone!! Well done, a sub 30'!! I read that a 47 yo just managed to do a sub 15' so you've got something to work towards now
So good to go back to debuts and see how far you've come.
Saturday when I said on a post, i was disappointed to be finished so early after a short 10km. Someone commented and I thought, yeah what is that about? 10km was the world's longest distance not that long ago. I find that walking some bits and running others on trail makes it less pressured and so I can keep going for (nearly) ever. Anyway well done on such a fantastic result x
I don't think I'll ever forget that first 60' (or the second) when I was like well this is going to be easy and I might as well skip to week 3 and wait how is that only 20 seconds but surely I am done now and HOW LONG IS THIS 60'?
