Well itβs fair to say I was feeling a little bit lost and without intention joined the B210K! I had lots of encouragement and a warm welcome! Thank you! π!
After lots more thinking, I consulted with the human compass (never fails π)! I started this journey never thinking I can run. Look at me running regularly. Thatβs in just 4 months. I also signed up for a charity run in September and it was just a dream to run that race, but I thought Iβd like to at least run some! Well, Iβve decided not to join JuJu programme right now, but Iβm going to do everything I can to be running all the way in that charity!
So with βback to funβ firmly on my mind (its worked well so far), I set out to the park where the race will be. Having done the run with Equi a couple of weeks ago, I knew it was twice round the circuit plus I had my app - everything tracked!π
βCome On Fabulous450! Weβre going to do 5k todayβ! And 5.01k I did! In 37 minutes! And I feel epic! Thatβs 6 whole minutes faster than my first parkrun! π±! So a PB and a refocused mind! Weight loss is the big goal now to put the icing on my 50 years celebration cake next year! Thank you for listening to my ramblings of confusion! Iβve found my way home!! π‘ ππβ€οΈ

I agree with you! Itβs been fun thatβs been my mantra and it hasnβt failed me at all! I feel firmly back on my own track now! πβ€οΈ
Good for you. Fun is where itβs at. And to be realistic, it was a little early to go for 10k so soon after completing c25k, but your 5k time is brilliant so you are well on your way x
Yay! I think enjoying your running is definitely the key. For me it's an escape from all the stresses of work and a busy life if it becomes hard work it defeats the object of running in the first place.
Yes Deb it was feeling a bit stressful thinking about whatβs next.....then lightbulbπ‘βGirl....just run and have fun, the rest will show upβ!! And it sure did! β€οΈ
Well done Fabulous! Youβre right about the rest showing up when it needs to. Stay sound and enjoy the September run Iβve been daft enough to enter something a bit longer so have to push on with that goal as motivation but after October Iβm freeing up a bit and just going to enjoy it for a while ππ»ππ»
Hey - Absolutely need to do what works for you. I stumbled on to the bridge whilst on holiday and thought I'd stick around. Fun is where its at, so run on and be fabulous!
lol, no. I was consolidating before I went on hols, managed a 5.5k. Tried for 6k on holiday, that was ok. A week later (last week) did 7k. Going slower and the distance isn't easy, but I'm getting there. 8k tonight (hopefully!)
Thank you so much ju-ju! Iβm already so happy about every moment of carrying on despite the doubts and becoming a better runner! More to come too!ππ½ ππΎββοΈππΎββοΈππΎββοΈβ€οΈ
Good decision Fabulous, not everyone is in a rush to move on. I'm still hanging around between c25k and b210k and quite content to stay there as long as I need to. In fact I may never move on, as long as I am getting out there 3 times a week and enjoying parkrun. Nobody has told me I can't be here , so I think it's still OK to keep up with everyone on this forum. Having a race in September is a good target for you. Enjoy. ππββοΈπ
(I'm on the PC, not my phone so have had to copy TM's emojis).
Thank you Dexy!! We continue to adjust and still getting out there running! A short while ago that was a pipe dream, so we have every reason to be very happy indeed!
You sound like my kind of person Dexy, I completed C25k a month ago, have done a couple of parkrun sans, am able to do 6.5k now, but not sure Iβll do much more- the 3x a week at that level seems to work for me!
I wouldβve used my age as an excuse but I now know that there are people on this forum who have proved that age is just a number . Well done for getting up to 6.5k Louise. π
Thanks Beanjo! I chose a 37 min run on the app and thought Iβd just have to run on! But I was spot on when it finished! π― That felt so good! πβ€οΈ
Well done Fab .. I decided to do 10k plan after my distance naturally crept up to 8!
I think you are totally right you have to enjoy your runs and not make it a chore. Having goals is a great motivator but it can also demotivate if we try and stretch too much too quickly.
Thanks Richard! Iβm still challenging myself to be a better runner! So Iβm definetly going for a natural creep too! It might even happen quicker than I can imagine! πβ€οΈ

Fabulous as ever Fabulous450 love your posts, and great to see you having fun again. I think I am still wandering around in the post C25K wilderness wondering what I want to do next!
ππ½ Hey Berksrover, I figure if we just keep getting out there in the wilderness we will find our way. This run as you please requires a different mindset for me. So I had to get my own head around what I want running to add to my life. You canβt beat a bit of running for feeling achieved even when you donβt know if you want to go! You will always come back a better version of yourself, no matter what happens out there. The funny thing is you usually come back having completely surpassed where you thought you were! Letβs just keep doing that! ππ½ππ½ππ½β€οΈ
As ever Fabulous450 you are right, the feeling of achievement after a run is the drug that keeps me going lol. For me, running has been a means to an end, a way to get fitter and to help lose weight, both of which are going well, but I also want running to be enjoyable and a lot of the time it is, I just want to up the proportion. Whatever happens, I can't imagine life without running now! ππΌπ
Look at you lady!!! Your doing sooooo well!!!! Positivity, humour and loads of fun = happiness xxx
You carry on lady! Iβm gona turn to you for advise once I graduate on my next run. My parkruns are normally 42min. Need help!!! Love your posts. Keep going x
Thank you so much Myrar!! After graduation, I think itβs the courage to go on a bit of an adventure and do it your own way that brings you the most happiness. We are all working with what weβve got, but it will continue to get better every time we go out there. We learn and we grow stronger. Youβre doing really well too!! Good on you! πππ½ππ½ Letβs keep going out there! β€οΈ
Epic 5K run, well done! That's very exciting π Love your redefined version of how you want your running life to be. Fun is the way to go. Inspiring, as always, Fab xx
Well done on the pb! Truely epic! Interesting to read about your thoughts on fun/10k. Iβve been having a mojo v gremlins battle whilst recovering from my rib injury. One part of me says βyou need to keep improving/achieving so you need to run further/fasterβ. Another part says βwhatβs wrong with sticking around 5k, having fun, fitting running into the rest of my life rather than letting it take over completely?β Iβve been watching some of my contemporaries doing amazing things and feeling slightly envious, but iβm glad that it sounds like iβm not the only one who is hanging around the 5k bike sheds...!
Iβm in the shed with you Pippa! No doubt about that. I definitely admire the 10k goal and achievers (and certainly wouldnβt say never), but Iβm happy with 5k. Itβs a bit like that amazing realisation of feeling bored running around my starting βLittle Parkβ nearby my home. When the excitement and feeling of achievement starts to dull, Iβll seek to go further naturally. Taking 30 - 50 minutes out of a day is pretty awesome, so whatever I can do in that time wonβt be in danger of becoming a chore. I donβt feel itβs boring or repetitive yet. Far from it! A new experience every time. Iβm really not sure where I would even be running for 10k either π€, but if it needs to happen, Iβm sure Iβll find a way!
Your Fabulous enthusiasm is contagious, I feel like I want to get my runners on and get out there! πππ I would but I ran last night π
Well done on your PB, thatβs a big chunk of your previous time ππ
Get the Charity run out of the way then look at your options, thatβs what I did π
The weight will come off without having to diet, Iβve lost a stone in 10mths purely down to my running and strength exercising, I was a virtual couch potato before, just did a little walking πΆββοΈ
Good luck on your Charity Run, and expect to do another PB π€
Oh thank you so much Ted! Itβs great to hear your journey! Yes, my charity 5k is close by now, so Iβm going to keep that vision in mind! Iβm so looking forward to it now too!! πβ€οΈ
Thanks Forestgrump! π± I know!! It was like graduation all over again when I realised I was going to do it in the 37 minutes. No further running on required!! πβ€οΈ
Ooh well done you! What a fabulous feeling to get to 5K *and* do it in such a quick time π It sounds like you know exactly what you want, and are doing the right thing for you - and as you say, the speed and distance may start to happen without you really noticing. And even if they don't, that doesn't matter if you are enjoying it β€οΈ
Definitely Eiralas! I can honestly say Iβm feeling on a running high again now! Just staying with the fun factor and not getting too technical about it is a relief. Of course I love doing better, who doesnβt? But my conclusion is that we are always better in some way every time we go out there. Love that! β€οΈ
Sorry for the late reply - Iβve been away and prioritised my runs over my emails! Thatβs fantastic - 6 min improvement might spoil you for future runs!! Fun runs must suit you!!
