Hi all,

So sorry I’m late posting this morning. I’ve just finished my (not) parkrun. I’ll tell you all about it later. Please tell me all about yours first. So sorry again I’m late. I was busy baking early this morning and forgot to post.

Hello Damien, what were you baking in the early hours of a Saturday morning ?

I ran my (non) parkrun yesterday got a time of 30.30 which is really fast for me as the route is nowhere as flat as my parkrun route. Came home soaked to the skin with rain dripping off me but thats okay I seem to really like running in the rain. Happy running all🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Excellent run and time for you yesterday Buddy34, you can run those (not) parkruns any day of the week but I prefer to run it on a Saturday like as if it was a official one.

I ran my 3rd (not) parkrun this morning, no PB, in fact I was a little disappointed with my time of 34.40 considering that next week is my first parkruniverary and ran it last year in a time of 34.16, nevertheless I still enjoyed my run this morning. 😊 🏃🏾

The point is you got out and ran your 5k AlMorr. 👍👍

Well done. AlMorr don't be disappointed. I’m 4 minutes slower for 5K than I was this time last year. But I’m running and so are you. That’s all that matters.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to damienair

I am not too worried about that Damien, I was looking back at all my 5K runs over the last year, my 5K time averages around 33.30 from 30.55 PB to about 35.30.🏃🏾👍

Well done Buddy. Great time. I was up at 7am baking a Pecan and Maple Syrup cake for a post (non) parkrun picnic/ Tea Party. It was very posh. I’m getting very refined now from hanging out with the Ladies. 😂😂

Good morning Damien, this morning I ran my 16th virtual parkrun and 3rd (not) parkrun, I was a little disappointed with my time of 34. 40, I was hoping it would be two minutes quicker but despite that the run was OK, next week will be my 1st parkrun runiversary, my time then was 34.16, so you can understand my feelings about today's run.

damienair profile image
damienairAdministrator in reply to AlMorr

Well done. Any run is a good run AlMorr . Don’t be dissatisfied or disappointed. We are all running, that’s all that matters.

Ooh, what are you baking Damien? We’ve just come back from our (not)parkrun and we also met up with Shakesandrun and her running buddy for a coffee. It was almost like a normal Saturday with the bars and restaurants getting ready to open up and the pleasure boats waiting for customers.

For some reason Saturday mornings aren’t going well for me at the moment and I felt horrible again this morning. However, whatever my body is feeling my running brain doesn’t seem to take any notice of. The plus 30 minute 5k I expected still managed to be sub 30 and I even improved my VO2 Max by 2 points so I’ve no idea what’s going on!

It was very windy and slightly chilly but once we got running it quickly got warm and sticky. There was less traffic than expected considering we were at least an hour later than usual but the longest section was entirely against the wind and mucked our splits up. The final downhill section towards the petrol station made up for it though and I came in at 28:27, a minute quicker than last week!

We have completely missed the quiz this week but the intention is to do it over our bacon rolls shortly. Hopefully that score will be better than last week too!

Happy running everyone and enjoy the extra freedom we now have x

Morning Damien! I went out a little earlier this morning, just about dry and quite a brisk breeze; warmer than it looked too. It was my final (not) parkrun in the UK for a few weeks in a (not) parkrun PB time of 30:40, which is 40 seconds faster than last week. Next week’s (not) parkrun will be in the somewhat more hilly environment of Monbazillac in the Dordogne 🇫🇷 Can’t wait 😊

Imposter alert - I didn’t run this morning as I’ve just returned from taking my daughter to Heathrow. She’s off to Barcelona for a week. 🇪🇸❤️

I ran mine yesterday instead and although I really wasn’t feeling it after my 11k on Wednesday, I shaved 6 more seconds off last week’s. Over 3 minutes slower than my actual PB, but my quickest 5k on the common and I ran it in 36:53 - definitely a (Not) PR PB. Funny how unexpected PB’s come out of nowhere! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🐾

Dexy5 profile image

Me too. But I might get out tomorrow.

Very well done Cheeky. Sorry for my delay in replying. I had my phone put down over a lot of the weekend. I cleaned the fridge and the oven and Nicola and I did a deep clean in the kitchen. Great going on your PB. I knocked 20 seconds off mine too. Next week I’ll have to do 30 mins and after that it will be sub 30’s. I’ll have to step up the training.

I had such a good run I forgot myself and reported on a separate post!

Here is an extract

My 5km was 34.00. A non-parkrun pb, a (not)parkrun pb, a lockdown pb and a 2020 pb. In fact the last time I ran faster was 33.41 on 1st June 2019 at Wythenshawe parkrun and on 17th August 2019 I ran 34.00 at Conkers (which was where I did my first ever parkrun at 41.00 exactly one week after finishing Couch to 5K)

This morning I ran my (not) parkrun no. 3. I wanted to get a PB but not blow it out of the water. I want to try and get a (not) parkrun PB for a few weeks in a row. I achieved my PB this morning of 30:22 on my local parkrun course.

I had arranged to meet up with our little parkrun tourist group and we would all wear our Apricot Tourist T-Shirts. We all started together but just like parkrun the faster girls broke away and soon the 5 of us were very spaced out. Usually 6 of us tour together. Kathleen and I are normally competing for first and second place out of the 6 of us, but this morning the girls were much faster and fitter than I was. With just 5 runners this morning I came in 4th place. I attached the post run photo above.

5 of the ladies were in their own little parkrun tourist group, and I was doing parkrun tourism on my own. When they realised that I had done over 15 different parkruns I was invited into their group. It’s lovely as we sometimes arrange to go to inaugural parkruns together or plan to do a different course together followed by breakfast.

So this morning we had arranged to have a picnic in the park after our run. But drizzle rain put an end to that plan. So we went back to Ida’s house instead. I baked a lovely Pecan and Maple Syrup cake Early this morning and brought it along. Each of us brought something and it was a gorgeous little post (not) parkrun tea party.

Loving the photo Damien and well done on your PB, sounds like you've had a very busy morning and deserve the pie - could you squeeze some down the internet for us, it sounds delicious! 😋

What a brilliant group to cheer up a very dull Saturday Damien. I bought UTS one of the apricot vests for his birthday- it’s like a uniform with the black shorts. It was exactly the same when we toured with the Coddfish es. How lovely that they invited you to join in their tourism group, and a chap that bakes a cake for the Post run party is worth his weight in gold.

You didn't really walk it in 30:22 did you?

Hi Damien,

Sounds like you had a great (not) parkrun today, with the company and the cake.

I have only done two parkruns before and both were the last Saturdays before lockdown.

After 7 weeks on the IC with a knee injury, for the last few weeks I've been gradually building up distance from 2k by 500m increments. Earlier this week I managed my first 5k for two months.

Today was my first ever (not) parkrun, I set off at lunchtime along one of my usual running routes which involves running alongside a road. The traffic along that road was mega busy and noisy, I think everyone must have been heading for their haircut and/or beers in the pub :-) . So I deviated off the usual route to enjoy the comparative peace and quiet of some small suburban roads between the busy road and the park.

I managed to finish the 5k in 32m25 seconds. I'm not going for any PB's at the moment, still enjoying getting back to running again and don't want to risk injury.

Happy running, and enjoy the rest of your weekend :-)

damienairAdministrator in reply to MartinKH

Well done Martin. Great running. I’m the same, I’ve gotten a lot slower over the past few months. I’m building my running legs back up bit by bit too.

Hi Damien - well done on improving your PB this morning, sub 30 next week !

As it was quite blustery, I decided that into the wind at the beginning of the run is much better than battling against it at the end. So I took a slightly different route today - also variety is the spice of life. Mind you, I'm not sure it made a lot of difference - my time was 29.22, 50 seconds slower than last Saturday!

So once again my (not) parkrun time will come from earlier in the week - on Tuesday I was pleased to join Oldgirlruns, Dexy, UTS, Coddfish and Mr C for their weekly (not) parkrun on the Southsea prom and was rewarded with 27.50!

In other family-related running news, my daughter completed c25k this morning!🎉 Not only that, but on her first 30 min run she was disappointed not to achieve 5k. So on the second, she managed 5k in 36 mins and the third today in 34 mins!👍 I'd better watch out ......😀

damienair profile image
damienairAdministrator in reply to JonathanP

Great running JonathanP and congratulations to your daughter too. Yes I’ll be aiming for 30 mins next week. I plan to be back into the 27’s with you in a couple of months.

That looks like a great (not)Parkrun team with you damienair! I did my usual 5k along the seafront yesterday at my standard OGR slow time of 49:26 but hey, I just like to make the others look good! Well done on getting up early to get your baking done!

Hello Damien, I love those tee shirts it looks great to see people together but apart

I’m a day late with the not parkrun and we ran our best today in the blustery wind, the forecast was for rain and it was grey when we got up but we got ready anyway, the clouds parted we walked round the park once and set garmin off. We thought we were slow and it felt perfect a nice gentle jog

What a surprise when we finished, Willow ran just over 3k in 23 minutes and I ran 5k in 40mins 44seconds

Then we went to sit in daughters garden and drank water and tea and more water

I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone not parkrun

Happy Sunday everyone

damienair profile image
damienairAdministrator in reply to SueAppleRun

Well done both of you. So sorry I’m late in replying. I’ve made a conscious decision to leave my phone out of my hand more often. The water tea and more water in your daughters garden afterwards seems like the perfect post (not)parkrun refreshments.

Thanks, yes it was perfect, after reading our leaders comments this morning about social care i’m not reading any more news today as i don’t need the resulting anger so yes phone out of your hand for longer is a great decision

Today’s run was shorter and slower so rest and run again on probably Saturday, work then social distance meal on thursday

Have a good week

I’ve just completed 12 weeks low heart rate training and did not parkrun as a measure. Just before lockdown is just PBd with 27:47 - it had taken me a year to get there and knock 7 seconds off my previous PB after not ever recovering from marathon training. Yesterday I ran the course in 26:05! Over the moon 😊

Hi Damien, a bit late but a (not) parkrun completed today in Sunny Windy Southsea. UTS kept me company, and tried to provide a wind block but it didn’t work. 35:10 is the score on the door and breakfast in a favourite beachside cafe to follow. How wonderful.

I don't run 5k's that much these days but since (not)parkrun started I've run one hard 5k a week on a Saturday as it has actually suited my training. Saturday was a 5k PB for me. Managed a 25.16 which is 2 mins faster than the last parkrun (27.14 at Chalkwell Beach). Really happy with that as my beta blockers were reduced recently so I'm obviously running keeping a keen eye on my heart rate!

It's a very big birthday and my two year C25K graduation anniversary next month so a sub 25 minute 5k is my target.

damienair profile image
damienairAdministrator in reply to AgingMetalHead

Brilliant running and brilliant time. Last August I achieved my 5K PB of 25:36. My dream too is to achieve a sub 25 minute time. But I’m a long way away from it at the moment. Your knocking on the door of a sub 25 minute 5K time. Well done.
