Sore and numb toes

Has anyone got any tips or advice ? I’ve been running since last April. I got myself a pair of brooks and some hilly socks. All good, Until recently. I’ve been finding that when I get to around 6/7km the underneath of my toes start to go numb but only on my tight foot. I’ve tried doing my laces tighter to avoid any movement, I’ve tried new trainers but nothing is helping. Any tips or advice will be appreciated.

Try loosening the laces and see if it makes a difference.

I agree with SlowLoris , maybe your laces are too tight😊

Elastic laces? I’ve got them on my Ghosts, it’s really easy to tie them too tight.

Thank you. I haven’t altered my laces since I bought my shoes but will give it a try.

All shoes give me a bit of grief due to (very) differently sized feet. They're also wide. In desperation I switched to minimal footwear. I don't run barefoot, but use huaraches, made famous by the Tarahumara tribe (Born to Run). I won't get all evangelical and boring about this type of footwear, but if you've got weird feet (the main reason for shoe discomfit), that don't fit any shoes, huaraches could be an option.

The orange one helped me with this issue

Thank you. Never thought about how the laces are done will alter the fit.

Will try it out before my run tomorrow.

I get numb big toes often at the start of a run, but after a while it gies away. Feels decidedly odd! I get reynauds in fingers, so thought it might be somehow related. Hope the shoe lacing helps, dying to know!

I’m ok for the first 7/8 miles then they start to hurt. This morning I did the laces for painful toes/feet but didn’t make a lot of difference on last 2 miles. Hope this doesn’t become too much of a problem when I want to increase past 10 miles 😬

Aw! Shame that didn’t help. Maybe it is the width of the shoe constraining the bigger foot. Maybe stopping to loosen them when they hurt like others suggested might work. Or the ‘foot shaped’ trainers like altra But I’m not sure how wide they are, or barefoot ones like vivo but not sure what they’re like to run in. Good luck and thanks for letting me know how you got on! 🤞

Well that’s the thing. I have been wearing these trainers since May last year so they’re well worn in. I think it’s because I’m doing longer distances. I’m going to try some professional running in soles. See if that helps. Fingers crossed
