My orange Saucony Peregrine's succumbed to plastic-fatigue (the inside of the heel disintegrated after only 700Km) and I was left with waiting for my new On CloudVenture's to arrive next week, or not do the planned 5Km this morning.
Then I remembered (harder than running at my age) these Tesla barefoot trail shoes I had bought in a mad moment about 18 months ago, and never run in.
So applying a Compeed plaster to back of the heel where the dying Peregrine had pecked at me, I put them on, without socks, and set off for a nice mixed road, field, and lake-shore run in the early morning humidity.
And to my great surprise I enjoyed the run hugely. The predicted effects of running without any heel or arch support just didn't materialise. I wasn't fast, but then it's a pretty tough course with serious climbs and descents, and the lake shore path of stones and gates.
Maybe the £120 Ons will be going back. These cost £21 on Amazon.

Those shoes are fine for running, it was exactly a year today I bought proper running shoes, I have ran 17 parkruns, 14 virtual 5K parkruns and one (not) parkrun in them, ten 10Ks and many more 5K and 3K runs, I certainly have not ran 700Km in mine as you have, I am not sure when the official Parkruns in the UK will resume.
Minimalist running TOF! I bought a pair of Hokas on Saturday. Planning to give them a whirl tomorrow; they are the other extreme with loads of cushioning. 🤞
I bought some peregrines for trail running in January theoldfellow and they have gone really well so far. I don’t think the barefoots would work on on my dodgy ankles though, and can’t imagine running without socks! Enjoy , and yes Winlatter Pass is not on my to do list either.
