The joy of new shoes

I'm quite sceptical about how some manufacturers (over)hype the advantages of their running shoes but a colleague has recently set a new personal record after investing in new shoes. After a few weeks of research and shopping I wore my new Under Armour HOVR Sonic 2s for the first time this morning for a 5k. They didn't feel much different than my (cheaper) Charged Bandit 3s and my first 1k split was nothing out of the ordinary. However, the next 4 were and I set 3 new records. Very chuffed and definitely value for money! :)

When I set out on C25K in June last year, a 30 minute 5k was an impossible dream. It's amazing what you can do if you put your mind (and body) to it, isn't it?

It certainly does! 5k in 25.40 is very impressive - well done!👍😀

Thank you! I was amazed by how much I improved on my previous PB.

Thank you. I think the shoes are good and that set an expectation that I could improve. The last 8 weeks of building my aerobic base probably helped too! :)

Yeah probably but unlikely (yes I am in denial that i have to do those awful exercises myself)

I didn't do any awful exercises. I just ran (initially walk/ran) keeping my heart rate in the range 118-128.
