New ParkRun buddy

This week has been rubbish. I have had a mental week at work, involving a lot of hours in the car, a lot of junk food consumed and no time for running. So I figured if today’s ParkRun was going to be rubbish anyway I might as well bite the bullet and take my dog. She runs with me regularly but I thought the crowds might be a bit much for her. However, she was as good as gold, although she didn’t really understand why we weren’t at the front, and so dragged me round most of it 😂

It was super hot out there and we are both very tired now!

Fantastic! Isn’t it great doing PR with a running buddy? So glad you both enjoyed it - will you take her again? ❤️🐕🏃‍♀️🏃🐶❤️?

I didn’t run with mine today however. I was at Ashton Court which has a stony kilomtre stretch at the top and she doesn’t like that on her paws. And yes, wow wasn’t it hot? 🥵 The hill slowed me right down today, but I had negative splits for kms 2,3,4 and 5 so pleased with that! 😀🏃‍♀️👍

👏👏👏 Good on you for getting out after a hard work week - must have been invigorating! But I agree, this heat is rubbish to run in. And your dog is gorgeous! Those brown eyes...sigh. x

Haha, I wish I had 2 dogs sometimes to pull me along! I just did come back run and it was interesting to listen to the advice of when you have been off for a bit. You are still doing more than yesterday so that’s all you need to compare it with. X

Welcome back. I wasn’t expecting much as I haven’t done anything all week and have eaten all the bad stuff, but I still feel slightly dissatisfied with the result! It wasn’t my slowest ParkRun though, and like you say, I did it!

Yes same with me yesterday but we got out and did it. Let’s not beat ourselves up :-)

Well done. Your running buddy pulled you around whereas my run buddy was giving out and dragging behind me. 10 year old boys are not as eager first thing in the morning. But in fairness to him he finished strong.

He could have done with your dog.

What a gorgeous running buddy. That top right picture - those eyes would get me every time. I’m so glad she was a good little girl for you.

Brilliant E27M14, lovely to do parkrun with your dog for a change. I bet a lot of water was drunk at the end of it.

My running buddy was a bit more vocal, with OH deciding he’d have an easy run today and run with me. It might have been easy for him but it was a PR PB for me! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🐕👏👏

Swindon. Is this your local too? Do you take your four-legged running buddy?

yes i have done 5 there.

i do not take them to pr as it is busy,i really want to concentrate on my time.

all my runs in the week are done with the dogs.

it really should be faster with some pulling help but when they have sniff breaks and we move aside for other dog walkers etc it can add mins on to a run.

i always run off a harness because a headcollar or ordinary collar can cause neck injuries. local canix group are great and often will lend equipment to try.

a proper fitted canix harness will not damage the windpipe and allows free shoulder action.
