Pavements or tracks?

When doing C25K in 2018 all my runs were on paths and tracks and I loved it. It also meant I was secluded - or at least I hoped so 😆. A couple of days ago I did 5k around those familiar tracks but it wasn’t as fast as I’d hoped. Not all about speed I know!!! Today I was reluctant to go out but felt I’d had my rest day and ‘should’. All self inflicted. Had no real plan even as I shut the front door but in the end it was what I believe to be my very first totally paved run. It was great. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I had no expectations and nothing to give me clues about distance or pace (yes I managed not to look!). Also the inclines didn’t scare me as I’d no memory of ‘failing’ them on previous runs. I’m a huge believer in training the mind as I tell all W5R3 people - turns out it’s harder than I thought to untrain 🤣. So - I enjoyed it, didn’t struggle, and ended up on an odd number (5.4) - what’s not to love 💕 It also turns out that pavements are quieter than tracks these days.

.. go you..all sounds good and if you are finding it fun and enjoying... perfect!

Pavement pounding does have its benefits definitely!

I have just found my way back to my trails and fields again... after garden runs then pavement runs... the are quiet at 6 o'clock in the morning and have quietened even more now that the lockdown easing has increased...I am loving it...

Just super... well done you!

Hats off to you for getting out early for your runs. Unfortunately I’ve trained myself to ignore my alarm since I’ve no grandchildren to look after ☹️ It will come as a great which when we’ve got all 3 again (aged 11, 6 and 2) as it’s not a ‘one activity fits all’!

I know the feeling..we have small runner in training on two days a week normally.

I think I will be ready! It is a great start to the day xxx

I’m not known for those runs so it was doubly satisfying!
