OK 10K - what now?

So having gotten back on track after a messy start to the year I have done the 10k a couple of times now and just wondering what others have done once they got here.

At the moment my PBs are 26 for 5k and 56 for 10 - so I guess there is plenty of room for improvement there but is it better to add distance or go quicker at 5 or a combo?

Also - how far/often - one @10, one @7 and one 5 each week/ all @10 or some other combo?

Not really sure what to do now but tbh an hour running is more than enough timewise so until I increase speed I dont really want to extend the distance - oh maybe I just answered my own question :)

It sounds like you need to have a good think about what your goals are moving forward. I am hearing that you want to increase speed? There are loads of plans out there for that, and also lots of plans to increase distance. Spend some time thinking and researching and then come up with a plan, and my suggestion for inclusion in the plan is to enjoy it :)

Goodness you're laying down good times. After reaching 10k I then went for hills - which I'd been totally avoiding. Great for stamina and improving speed. I've been doing loads of back to back 10ks recently, throwing in the occasional shorter run shows that speed is improved- not to your speeds😉 I've also set myself a total distance challenge of 500miles in 2020 - well on target for meeting that in the autumn. Just some ideas for what's next. There is also ½ and full marathon. Happy running 🤗

Maybe I will try that - I wanted to get to 25 or less for 5k but that little extra is really hard to achieve even though it doesn't seem much difference per km i.e. I just end up blowing like a train if I run under 5.30 perkm!

Maybe by doing other things when you go back to 5k speed in a month or so you'll find you hit your target. Have fun 🤗
