Running 5k to 8k 3 times a week, but last couple of runs keep stopping to walk 3 or 4 times in a run. Is this normal. Or should I re evaluate

How happy are you doing your runs the way you are currently doing them if you're happy keep going. We all have a lot going on just now so this is the time to relax and enjoy our running as best we can. Happy running 🤗

How about dialling back your distance and/or speed and making the run achievable for starters. If it’s bothering you that you’re taking walking breaks (it needn’t, by the way), maybe you need to “succeed” in your own mind, which in turn will make you feel better about your runs?

Just an idea. Running needs to be fun in my opinion! 😀

Hi, Mc64. I was in the same position just a few weeks ago. I really wasn't feeling the love and it felt such a struggle. Part of the problem is very definitely the strange times we're living in. It messes with your head and that messes with your running. The other part of the problem can be (sorry guys!) reading other peoples posts. People post their achievements (which is lovely, and I hope everyone continues to do so) and it's easy to start comparing your run to theirs and become disheartened. So you need to run for YOU, no-one else. If you have to walk part of the way or run a shorter distance so be it. Strangely, since I stopped setting myself targets, my running has gone from strength to strength.

Just lace up, get out there and enjoy it x

Hello Mc64

You are doing amazingly covering that distance. Lots of people take walking breaks so I think for many of us, that’s normal. Since finishing couch25k and running non stop for 30 minutes, I’ve only done that twice since, even though I am covering longer distances. When I posted recently that I’d done my first 10K, I didn’t mention any walking breaks because the achievement was still the distance. If taking a walking break means you enjoy your run, then that’s good enough. Happy running.
