It was one of ‘them’ runs...a run that I should’ve done yesterday but I didn’t...so I literally had to force myself out today...When I woke up I had my running stuff ready to put on so I got myself dressed and was ready for when the window of opportunity arose..whoosh, the morning flew by...then into the afternoon, after a few jobs and a trip to the supermarket for essentials I had run out of excuses, so I had no choice but to do this run that I wasn’t really feeling at all...Garmin plan Wk10 R3, stride repeats...not my fav run....the fast bit in the middle nearly kills me! I like the 10 minute warm up, easy pace run and the 10 minute cool down bit is my favourite..
So I got my headphones on...I should’ve been going to see ‘Simple Minds’ tonight in Leeds with my Hubby and some of our friends but obviously it was cancelled so I decided I was listening to them on my run instead...
The day has been much cooler today but there was no wind or breeze at all it was just dead cold, perfect for us runners though! I walked to the park where I started my run and ran towards the motorway, it was completely silent the whole way there...the sun came out, the flowers turned to look at it and everything seemed to brighten up in a split second...suddenly, I felt like a balloon that had been let go...I was just running & enjoying the feeling, enjoying the silence, been carried on the little bit of breeze that had developed as I ran towards the open space..I was having a great time...the fast bits that I was dreading just seemed to pass, I have to repeat a faster pace run 8 times, I lost count and thought I still had a couple left but when my watching vibrated and I looked it said it was time for my cool down 10 min run, at this point my radiator had overheated so I ended up taking my long sleeved top off, tying it round my waist and just running in the vest I had thankfully put on underneath! The last 10 minutes were spent running along the towpath and then coming off and running through the town centre, very strange with the restaurants and pubs closed...no-one slurring out ‘Mac the Knife’ at 10,000 decibels on the karaoke in The Ship! No clinking of knives and forks or hum of conversation as I pass the Royal Delhi Indian Restaurant, just me, (the balloon) heading for home, feeling good on the run that I really didn’t want to do...
Happy running everyone...stay safe xxx
