Where are you MummyCav I hear you shout!!! I am so sorry, these strange times are sending me all over the place...and I'm sure I'm not alone?? I have been reading your replies to the first weeks quest and you all sound to be doing so well...and a bit of good news in all this time of self-isolation... Bluebirdrunner is pain free in her foot for the first time since November so it just goes to show that she has been a good girl and done her exercises properly and in just the right amounts, so that is something to cheer about!!
I have read through all the replies to week 1 and those who signed up to this months quest are doing so well...its hard to stay motivated sometimes but just reading everybodys goals, targets, achievements and running stories makes everything a bit more bearable!
For those of you who didn't sign up at the beginning of the month it's not too late, you can join in any time...the more the merrier!!!
So what is the quest?? I am sure most of you are familiar with it by now but for those of you who aren't....
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
I ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............

I'm on for this MummyC I think I may have signed up subconsciously, as in k wanted to get myself to a point where I was running 3 consecutive days ✔️ so if I can maintain that goal, whilst juggling work and getting my eldest daughter through her c25k journey that'll do I think 🙂
Brilliant...I’ve got 3 children here, my youngest has a go now and again but the other two just roll their eyes when I mention running!! 🙄 xx they’re 16 & 15
Thank you Mummycav, and wouldn't it be nice if my Quest for April could be to start c25k W1 R1.... maybe..but will have to be patient for a while longer.🌷xxx
Keeping up the daily Yoga and Physio so still on Quest.
I'm following the HM plan that was kindly drawn up for me two years ago, by Tomas , (doubt he ever posts here these days, but this may call him back!) This week and last week both had a 9K, and will have a 7 later in the week. Both of these are within my grasp to be honest, but I wanted to start from the beginning again. Next week has an 11K, that's a bit more than I've done for a while...
At the moment I'm quite scared!! I've actually run a HM so I know I can do it, but our fears get the better of us sometimes don't they? I'm still in recovery from cancer, the fatigue still knocks me about sometimes, so each run is really a separate challenge if you know what I mean, I can't say oh I've done this distance, today will be within my grasp, I just have to take each run as it comes. Still, never a dull moment!!
Today's 7K was just awesome, I saw a swan nesting and, oh, all sorts of lovely things! I'll just keep plodding along for that 11 next week, and not worry if it's slow.
I'm sure you know about Jeff Galloway run-walk-run method. It can help you cover some serious distances without ill-effects. I'm training for my first, and solo, 50k ultra and running some dizzy distances five times per week. I don't think my body would take back-to-back long weekend runs without that strategy. And the fact that you know that you can do it is probably one third of the job, if not more, already done! 👍
Yes, I did my HM on the Galloway method. Before I got sick I could run long distances easily, I'd like to get back to that if I can. If I can't then so be it, but I reckon it's worth a try! I have a guaranteed place for next year, but I'll only take it up if I can do it a bit faster than last time. At the moment straight running is about the same pace as 2/1 run/walk, and I suspect I'll never get back to my pre-illness pace, I'm two years older if nothing else. I like to mix up my runs anyway, and this is keeping my interest at the moment!
Hiya Mummycav these really are strange times aren’t they? my pace has dropped, I’m managing 5/6k only but I’m still running 3 times a week, yoga everyday and video workouts on rest days. Lets be kind to ourselves, we’re all doing great 😊 x
My pace has dropped too lexi6 but...I’m running comfortably, I’m enjoying it and don’t feel like I’ve exerted myself...maybe because our pace of life has slowed down? Don’t fret about your pace, it’s your run remember that...you sound to be fitting all sorts in and if you’re running 3 times a week you’re questing xx
The part of my quest relating to roseabi 's sprint challenge on the other side has gone well, with my first weekly run very close to my 1k PB and the second well inside it at 4'09" . But between these two successes, my attempt to stretch my "distance at 5'00"/k pace" beyond 7k crashed and burned, dropping 11 secs off the pace over the first 3k. I got up to speed over K4 and got a few seconds back over K5, but that was me done ….. and 3k from home . I tried to raise a jog a couple of times on the walk back but only managed a couple of hundred metres each time.
I must say I've been a bit short of mojo, and only getting out about every fourth day, so must try to do better for the rest of the month. Hey ho ….
Blimey, that is a very fast 1k! I could never run that fast, I would end up face planting the floor! Well done, there must’ve been flames coming off your trainers?!
As far as your distance pace goes, that’s just something to work on and if your mojo is hiding a couple of days through the week then that could well be the reason why...be kind to yourself, these are strange times and it’s easy to expect to much of ourselves, if you’re still out running then that’s fab, enjoy the sunshine and the chance that you get of being outdoors...that speedier run will come I’m sure, you’re got determination by the shed load x
Hmmm... yoga happening but not as often as would be a good idea.
Running has been tricky, needed a break as hard surfaces indoors or along the back really don't agree with me, but found the warm up walk got me to some grass. A few too many others there (all distancing) - nice to see parent and child running combos - so I took myself off to the non-playing field bit of the site. Interesting underfoot but communed with my father's memorial tree so that was nice.
We fetched out the bike turbo, but it's my son's road bike and even in padded cycle shorts it disagrees with my rather different anatomy. I shall keep giving it a go but not the miracle answer I hoped.
Latest College of Policing guidance suggests they concur with my view that driving 10 minutes up the hill to the woods to exercise (much too narrow pathways to walk up there, never mind the crampons needed!) is an OK thing to do so normal service might be restored to start Week 6 of C25K revisited.
