NOT A BAD DAY....

Was thinking of running my 55 minute Magic week 6 this morning but the old ankle is still not right so decided I'd be a wise old thing and just do 5k. Ran straight from home. I did find it hard'ish' and wondered what I have to do to make it so that they're not hard'ish'. Diet? Rest? Water consumption? Build more muscle? I was determined to do the 5k so when my alarm went off I just kept going - just another 2.54 minutes. I was pleased with that. I'm going to do my 20 minute run next to give the ankle a chance - I think my problem might be pronation so I've put some different inner soles in and I'm going to give these a chance to work. When the weather looks and feels a little more Spring like I'm going to do the 55 minute run - I've already chosen my route! 🤣

Are you running with an ankle support? I have ankle niggles sometimes after a sprain and wearing a support really helps.

Sometimes 5K’s can feel harder because you’re not in your stride yet. It can take me 5K to really warm up and then everything relaxes and it feels easier.

You could try a longer warm up and make sure you stretch afterwards too.

Enjoy your 55 minute run next 🙂

No, I was thinking of getting one but wondered if I really needed one if it was a pronation problem. Are they one size fits all or do you have to be measured for them? I only ask because in these days of lockdown I'd need to buy online. I think I'd like to try one out though.

I use just the standard crepe one although you can buy pretty sophisticated ones now but I’ve not tried them. The crepe one gives me just a little support but it’s enough to ease the aches.

When this is over you could try seeing a podiatrist to check once and for all if you over pronate and if you need orthotics.

I do actually have something to put in my shoes but 2 years ago I developed a sore ankle and it could've been 1 of 3 things. I now think it was pronation. I'll try wearing a crepe bandage and go from there - thanks 😉

Stretch your calves regularly for ankle pain, it helps a lot.
