Just received an email to say that all parkruns in New Zealand cancelled until the end of March and most likely to the end of April at this stage. 🙁 Keep safe and healthy everyone. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Sorry about all the parkruns being cancelled in New Zealand, but I suppose that was to be expected, I did read a post on the UK cancelled runs Website that the organisers were having a meeting on Wednesday whether to cancel all parkruns in the UK, I think they will have to, I just got a email that the walking club that I am in on a Thursday has also been cancelled and the 3 concerts that I was going to in April and May are off.

Shame about your walking group and concerts Alan, that was inevitable too I guess. Keep safe. I had already decided to drive up to our parkrun this morning for a run for a change from running on concrete, so heading off now. Will be amazing to start at the front for a change 👍😂

Bad news, but your right, it’s inevitable I’m afraid. If the UK ones go ahead this week I’ll be very surprised! ☹️

I got the same email, have been contemplating starting soon after I complete the Magic plan, we will just have to wait now until everything gets back to normal. :-(

By the time parkrun starts again Rigpig at the rate you’re going you’ll be sub 30 by then 👍😊

UK Athletics and Run Britain have started to announce that group runs, club meetings, and most other forms of social running are to stop... can’t see parkrun going the opposite way, but we await an announcement for the UK.

parkrun will be back... and no doubt they’ll have bumper numbers as we all get to celebrate getting through these tough times.

It will happen I guess, thank goodness for this forum and VBR’s. 👍 and there’s still our Running Cup 🇬🇧 Go Team HU.

All UK athletics races cancelled until the end of April. London Vitality 10000 on 25 May under review but I’m not confident. Parkrun not yet cancelled but there is no way it can be justified to continue. Virtual running for the foreseeable future. Stay safe xx

You too Sandie. Sad about all the cancellations, but necessary to stay safe xx

I think we’ll be following suit before the weekend 🙄

Sure you’re right Baddie. Stepdaughter is selling her treadmill, so I’ve just spent the weekend trying to find a place for it, might have to resort to using it this winter. Can’t handle the strong wind anymore.

Just about to head to shower Dexy. Went to run our parkrun site today as I wanted a change from running on concrete and it felt incredible to be at the front at the start line! I lead all the way and was first home😂

Oh Lexi, I’m so sorry. I’m sure ours will go the same way after their meeting today. It’ll be so sad without our normal Saturday morning routines won’t it? ☹️

Stay chipper. We have these wonderful forums and we’ll get through this horrible time. 💕

You’re so right Cheeky. Can’t remember what I used to do with my Saturdays before running, but isn’t this forum, amazing, full ofwonderful, kind, supportive people. We will get through this. 🇬🇧

It's a shame but you're right it was inevitable. Here in the uk there is no email as yet to say parkrun is cancelled but I'm sure it will be soon.

Good idea to run the parkrun route that's what I hope to do also every second Saturday. Stay safe and enjoy your running😊😊

lexi6Graduate10 in reply toBuddy34

Thanks Buddy, our parkrun route is lovely, with nobody in front of me today it looked REALLY! hilly, puffed a bit, so hopefully by the time parkrun starts again I’ll be well practised at them thar hills. 😂 💪🏻

Beginning to look like even out door healthy running in the fresh air as a group won’t be happening. We haven’t run parkrun yet but have seen the markers for the route and we’re just saying maybe when it’s quiet we will go run it on our own, maybe some of you can run your local one alone and come back here to celebrate with tea and cake and high fives

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

Hey Sola, running parkrun today on my own was a little sad, no high fives etc, but to start right at the front was friggin’ awesome, I took some photos, stopped to drink some water, ate some homemade flapjacks in glorious sunshine and not one thought about trying to beat my PB, it was just perfect. We will beat this crappy virus.🇬🇧

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply tolexi6

Hopefully we will beat this crappy virus, I’m about to get ready for my first run in over a week, my feet aren’t great but with some cushioning they will have to do because if they get worse again they won’t run me around, so fed up of itchy blustery feet but have skin clinic appointment tomorrow and they may come up with some ideas

Stay safe and well

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

Hope your cushioning works, I grizzle about my bunion and blisters, but can only imagine the pain you’re in. Hope your run goes well awesomeness! 🤞

We’ve got the email too. No parkrun in UK this weekend. But I think parkrun will try to come up with a virtual way to encourage our solo runs.

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply toDexy5

🙁 At least here on this forum we have each other. Just got back from our monthly quiz night, hardly anyone turned up, so that won’t be on next month I’m sure. Hope parkrun does come up with virtual runs, today was a little scary at my parkrun route on my own, came upon a snarly, aggressive dog with owner at the 2k mark who never even acknowledged me, so I turned back and did loops until I got to 5k and then nearly got bowled by a motorbike rider ( supposedly banned from the narrow track). Will try and run a little longer again in the weekend for team HU when there are more people around. Hope you are well Dexy. 🥰x

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply tolexi6

That sounds an eventful run lexi! I’m getting better everyday thanks. I managed to drive yesterday, so that’s good. I even managed to buy toilet roll for Oldgirlruns! I hope kiwis aren’t panic buying down there.

Sandie1961 profile image
Sandie1961Graduate10 in reply toDexy5

I see that they are discouraging people from organising unofficial parkruns too. I’d picked up quite a few comments about getting together anyway to run the parkrun route, which would kind of defeat the object and be less safe without marshals!

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply toSandie1961

Yes , we originally thought we might turn up anyway, but things have moved on now and it would give parkrun a bad reputation if people flouted their decision. We will do it i a different day and time.

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10

Fabulous news Dexy. We are so far so good not panicking here, whats this toilet paper thing all about anyway? Was annoyed at our local supermarket having it on special, just seems to be encouraging stockpiling. I suppose we won’t be immune, it will happen, in the meantime I’ll enjoy my triple quilted, “harnessed from local geothermal steam” (read Rotorua) while it lasts 🤧

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply tolexi6

Eggs , pasta, flour, toilet rolls? Who knows the logic. The Waitrose man said it’s the youngsters who are panicking. I think people are scaring each other on social media. You can’t even keep eggs for long.
