So what was to be my first ever running event has of course been cancelled, as it should be I suppose. Still is a bit hard to not be a bit disappointed, but there are bigger things at stake. Especially as where I am (Aus) we will be heading into flu season properly, even without the dreaded virus.... but for now we have the perfect climate (figuratively and literally) to hang out on an otherwise deserted beach....
Anyway, I think that I might just run the same route on the day regardless - I have been following a plan to get to 10 miles, and the 10K race fit into this plan perfectly, so I dont think there is any reason not to - it is outside and I dont plan on being in close contact with anyone so I think it should be fine. Although it isnt until April and anything could happen in the meantime.
In other, more positive news, last night I went for a really short, fast run, and managed to get myself a new record for fastest km! It is still slow by any objective measure (not even at 30 minute 5K pace) but it is progress and I am more than happy with that!

Well done, progress is progress. Keep running and keep training. Look forward to future runs. I’m going out to run a 10K, start of a training plan for parkrun when it gets going again here in Ireland.
👏🏼👍👏🏼🎉 A fastest for you km is always so satisfying, isn’t it? Sorry about your event, but lots are falling everywhere so the Virtual Events are going to be the new reality, I think. We will cheer, for sure, when your day comes. And just look at that gorgeous beach. 😳 And your two lovely companions. We are all being reminded to live in the moment. Happy (solitary) Running. 👍🎉
I’m sorry to hear of your cancellation, but as you say there are bigger things at stake. You are really making the best of it though! Congratulations on your PB that is fantastic!! I have been going on solo runs in the beautiful sunshine and they are always so rewarding.
